I've read about this on Diaper Pin and the mamas who CD from birth say the meconium isn't bad at all. I don't think you have to rinse it either. I think it's like normal BF baby poop where you just wash it.
About the OS. I don't think a OS would fit a newborn very well, but I don't know. I think they would fit better at 3 or 4 mo old. Most mamas on the Pin who CD from birth say go with PF's since they will grow out of fitteds so quickly if you get newborn ones. You can also just tri-fold and lay in the cover .View Thread
I think the interlock would be super easy to make (if you have any skills..which I do not!). Here is a blog that alot of mamas use: http://katrinassqs.blogspot.com/ At the right she has soaker patterns.
You can use Lansinoh lanolin (like you use when you are BF'ing). I use a wool wash from here: www.hyenacart.com/eweneedit which already has lanolin in it. I shouldn't have to add extra lanolin but I like to since I use these overnight so I just put some lanolin on my fingers and rub it lightly through the wetzone. I really like lanolin from here: http://hyenacart.com/Woollybottoms/ The love spell smells really good. It's at the bottom and it looks like she is sold out right now but if you emailed her she might have more or tell you when she will have more. Actually Ewe Need It also has lanolin balm. I've never tried hers but I LOVE her wool wash (Monkey Farts is my favorite scent!).View Thread
Hey Sarah! I've used wool. We use wool exclusively at night right now but I use interlock wool instead of knit. I used to have some knit pants and shorts and they were awesome. You only have to lanolize wool when it starts to leak and you only have to wash when it starts to smell. DD wears her wool soaker all night, every night for a good 2 weeks before we have to wash it. I love it!!
The thing about wool though is that it will be thicker than regular covers so would be bulky under clothes. If you mom knits you some shorties your DD could just wear those. Here is a pic of the shorties we had (well, still have. I have them for sale). I worried they would be hot in the summer but they let in so much air that they are not hot at all.
I see what you are saying. To be honest, most of what I have done has been like so many things in life. It may seem like it's going to be a big deal, or a big change but once I start, it's really not. It's a different way of doing things but most of it is not any harder or much more work at all than the way I used to do things, and I feel better about it!View Thread
I was just wondering what other forums you mamas are on and what you like about them. Not that I NEED to join any other forums but I always wonder what else is out there!
Here are mine:
WebMD. Came here after my 4th m/c when I found the coping with pregnancy loss board. Then moved to TTC after loss and pregnancy after loss and then the parenting boards.
DiaperPin.com. Found this when I started CD'ing. There are tons of other forums in there like frugal living, healthy living, pregnancy, parenting, in the kitchen. They also have a co-op forum where I've gotten in on some awesome deals on all kinds of things. It's a great forum and I will say that there is hardly ANY drama there. It's a very ecclectic group of woman and I've learned a ton there. Most of my enviro friendly ideas have come from there.
DiaperSwappers.com Found this one when I wanted to sell some of my CD's that weren't working for us. Then I bought a bunch of CD's to try there. They also have a ton of forums similar to diaper pin but DS is way bigger and has ALOT more drama! I mostly lurk there but I do FSOT there and join co-ops where I can get great deals on things.
That's it for me. Where else do you "hang out"?View Thread
That is cool Katie! My beliefs are not in line with his beliefs but I think it's wonderful that his beliefs are that strong that he will not do it. He's really cool about it too and said, "it's your body, your beliefs, your decision and I will find someone who supports that for you but I can't support that for you".View Thread
Oh no! If Hayden is going to just have a diaper on I put her in a diaper that has snaps. She is unable to get the snaps off for some reason but she will pull the velcro off and come to me and say "uh oh"View Thread
