Now that almost never happens. I think I have just become such a light sleeper since he was born, because I trained myself to never be in too deep a sleep just in case I need to wake up and tend to him. Now DS sleeps through the night for the most part, but he will still randomly yelp in his sleep loud enough that it wakes me up on the monitor. Even when he is staying at my MIL's for the night, I still usually get up once or twice to go to the bathroom, or other random things (noises, dry throat, etc.) will just wake me up more easily. I think there have been a few times when I slept straight through the night without interruption for at least 8 hours, but it is not the norm.
I also can't sleep past 9am even if I try, and up until this past month, that time was probably more like 7:30 or 8. I think this has coincided with DS's discovery of the joy of "sleeping in" since starting daycare. I guess it is just the start of his avoidance to beginning the daily grind lolView Thread

3.42 Earths (That was what I got right now. I took the quiz earlier and got 3.5 earths but accidentally clicked off of it... I don't know what I answered differently!)
Total Acres: 132.8
Carbon: 69
Food: 19.02
Housing: 11.43
Good and Services: 33.35
Carbon is worst, probably because we drive alot of places on weekends to visit family. DH and I both have to commute kinda far to work, but we live smack in the middle of where we are both employed, so there isn't really a better way! Some of the other stuff doesn't really apply to us either... we don't own our home, so we can't just go replacing everything with energy efficient stuff, and I don't think the condo association would appreciate us starting a composting pile on our front porch lol. Overall, not too bad though.View Thread

One of the easiest things to do with it is make a tofu scramble, which is basically scrambled eggs with veggies and cheese w/ the tofu in place of the eggs. The consistancy is almost exactly the same as scrambled eggs. Lots of protein, much less fat and cholesterol.
It is also really easy to marinade and bake. I did a ginger soy marinade once, and it was pretty yummy. Tofu in and of itself doesn't have a flavor, so it really easily absorbs whatever flavor you give it. I've also cubed it and thrown it into stirfrys with some sauce (although more marinading = more flavor).
We also buy alot of prepackaged baked tofu just because it is so quick and easy to make. You can get tons of flavors too... carribean, asian, smoked, savory, etc. I usually just slice it length wise and then in half to get four more slender pieces, and then fry it in a little olive oil for a few minutes on both sides until it is a little crispy on the outside. I swear, it is really yummy!
In terms of including it in your kids lunch boxes, I think it would be difficult to include it as a separate item, especially if it cannot be heated up. However, I did make a veggie and tofu pasta dish last Friday that actually tasted really good the next day unheated. The tofu was crumbled up pretty finely and almost disappeared as a sauce, so it worked really well as a cold leftover. I think it would be able to work in a lunchbox as long as it was a part of a bigger dish.View Thread

What you are doing sounds alot like what we do with DS. He has been on a pretty good sleeping streak lately *knocks on wood*, but I swear, our methods are ever changing because there doesn't seem to be any one method that works for us long term to get him to sleep or back to sleep if he wakes up during the night.I was going to ask, I can't remember exactly what age Dane is, but have you given him blankies or stuffies to sleep with yet? I think I started giving my DS a couple blankets around 15 months, and I saw a HUGE improvement in his ability to self soothe. I think having something soft to snuggle with helps him relax if he wakes up a little bit in the night. He still lets out random yelps a few times a night, but by the time I get out of bed to go in his room to check on him, he is sound asleep, go figure.
But yeah, if I check on him, and he is standing up at his crib and/or crying, I do a similar thing with the rocking and back rubbing. Except for nights when he is clearly just not feeling well, it usually doesn't take more than a couple minutes to get him settled back into his crib, so I don't feel like it is a huge deal. We tried CIO a couple times, but honestly, it never worked because he would just wake up more, so I have learned that putting in a few minutes of snuggle time saves ALOT of time in the long run considering we would end up having to go in and console him after crying anyway...
It sounds like you are doing pretty well with everything, but just keep going with your instincts and don't be afraid to try something new if whatever you were doing before stops working. HTH!View Thread

They make alot of frozen chicken stuff. I picked up the chicken burgers on sale a week or two ago given that the nuggets got such good reviews lol, but I don't think DS or DH have tried those yet.View Thread

Anyway, I think they were made from chicken not given antibiotics, had limited if no preservatives, and may have been organic. I am blanking on the brand name (I'll post when I remember), but my DH reported that they were yummiest, most natural tasting nuggets he's ever had. When I actually get the time to make stuff from scratch, I usually just serve it then lol, so I just thought I would throw that out there for anyone in my boat! But I think it was a good alternative to the regular, more processed nuggets you would typically find at a grocery store.View Thread
