I'm currently 17 years old and when I was little I was diagnosed with hyperplasia or loss of enamel is what I've always been told on my teeth due to high fevers as an infant. Since then I've had multiple fillings to protect my teeth from cavities and its safe to say their really sensitive and one tooth has been bothering me. At my normal 6 month cleaning today I told them I've been having problems with one of my upper molars-number 14 I think it is and they determined instead of putting a crown on it quickly they are going to seal it so I wont be so uncomfortable for the time being. They said it was because the enamel was wearing away because of plaque. They didn't tell me it was a cavity but I'm still confused on what their going to seal it with. Will they have to give me a local anesthetic for this if its not a cavity but my tooth is still really sensitive in order to cover it? I'm don't do well with needles at all and its been a long time since I remember getting one when I was little. Is a shot needed for this? Or am I just totally confused on whats happening?[br>Thanks!View Thread
