They had a number of false starts and were the backup for a number of transplants so they were ready for this. I'm sure we all wish them the best.

I've put an exchange announcement at the top of this exchange's page (you can see it if you click on the What's Happening Now) to put links to some of the other related exchanges that community members here may be members of. I hope that will make it a bit easier to navigate from one exchange to another.

We are thrilled to share with you some changes that have been made to WebMD Health Exchange due to some of the wonderful feedback you all have given us.
First of all, you’ll notice that we’ve changed the top of the What’s Happening Now page so that See All Discussions, Tips, and Resources are right at your fingertips. These links will take you to our index pages, which read much more like our old message boards. We’ve also made our posting button at the top larger, and it drops down so you can choose which type of content you want to post.
You’ll also notice that we’ve added some more spacing to the posts themselves, making them less bunched up and easier to read.
AND, we’ve increased the posts per page from 15 to 30.
Along with that, you’ll see that now when you respond to another member’s post, it will say Member_1 replied to Member_2’s response. If you click on the word “response” you’ll be taken back to the original post you responded to so that you can continue reading the thread from there.
When we launched, the option to add a member story on the WebMD Moderated Exchanges was left off. That has been added back in, and you can begin crafting your stories now!
You should also begin to notice that it isn’t taking quite as long for your messages to show up. The problem has not gone away completely. Our tech folks are still working on a final fix. However, you should only have to wait 60 seconds or less to see your post appear on the What’s Happening Now feed. If you’re posting from the See All Discussions or any other index page, your post should show up immediately.
We also fixed a defect that was frustrating many of our members. After you joined an Exchange, created your member story, and then voted on a poll you would often be unjoined from the Exchange and your member story would disappear. This issue has been resolved, and you should now remain joined to the Exchange after voting on a poll.
We hope you enjoy these changes. You’ve given us some great feedback. We’re listening, and these are just the first of the fixes and additions to come. Our tech team is already working on several more changes based on your suggestions and comments.
Please keep writing to let us know what you like, what you don’t, and share your suggestions for the future.
Yours in Health,
The WebMD Health Exchange StaffView Thread
I'll start by saying that I know everyone would like the old boards back, but they are no longer available. And honestly, they were not working well anymore, which was why we needed to implement something new.
We want to make the reading and interacting on the new forums less confusing, and in order to do that we need you to tell us exactly what you find the hardest to do. Give us as many concrete details as you can.
- Is it hard to read because your board/conversations move too fast?
- Is it because the What's Happening Now feed only shows what's new?
- Is it because you can only see 15 posts at a time on the What's Happening Now page?
- Is the page too cluttered?
Tell us exactly what makes it hard or confusing and how you'd like it to behave.
We will pass all of your comments and suggestions along to our engineering and management teams and keep you informed about what changes are coming.
Take care,
AnnieView Thread
I just want to let everyone know about our new Chronic Disease and Disability Exchange . That new exchange has journalist and author Richard Cohen as your expert.
No matter your illness or ability, you are welcome!
I have also posted a link to the exchange below:
http://exchanges.webmd.com/chronic-disease-and-disability-exchange
One tip to find your way back to that exchange (or any other exchange) is to click on the Bookmark This link at the top right hand corner (you will see the link after you are logged in) to add it to your "My Exchanges" watchlist.

Welcome to your new home in the WebMD Health Exchange!
I hope you found your way in easily. I know change can be both exciting and hard at the same time, so I’m here to help you navigate around and I’ll do my best to answer any questions you have.
Jump in and start playing around with the functionality. Try posting a discussion and adding a poll. Post a tip and share a resource. Vote on Tips and Resources as well, and see how that works.
If you have questions, and I am not around you can visit the new Welcome Exchange where there will be moderators standing by throughout the next week to help.
We’ve also put up some information on our Community Blog that you can check out as you wait for one-on-one feedback.
I can’t wait to see all our familiar faces back in the community and sharing the wonderful support we all know and love here at WebMD.

We announced yesterday that we’re going to be launching our new WebMD Health Exchange community at the end of this week.
The content from your board is going to be migrating to the Organ Transplant Member Exchange and will be located at:
http://exchanges.webmd.com/organ-transplant-exchange
Come join us Friday night for the big debut! (Until then, that exchange link will not be accessible.)
In the meantime, you can visit the Community Blog to check out some visuals of the new functionality.
See you in the WebMD Health Exchange!

At 12:00 PM Eastern Time tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 25), our WebMD message boards will go to Read-Only status while we port over the past year’s content into our new WebMD Health Exchange. This means that you will be able to read messages that have already been posted, but you won’t be able to post new messages.
Please be sure you have a support plan in place if you need support during this time.
At some point, the boards may go completely dark for a couple of hours. During this time, if you need extra support you can reach out to our moderator team by writing to ExchangeWatch@webmd.net, understanding that that they are not Health Professionals and so cannot answer any medical questions. Please keep those for when our Exchanges launch.
On Friday evening after 6:00 PM ET, the WebMD Health Exchange should be open and ready for posting. Later today, our moderators will be providing you with links to the Exchanges which correspond to your current boards. Be sure to save those links so that you can easily find your friends in the new community site.
However, if you forget to save the links and you’ve already bookmarked your current boards/added them to your browser's favorites, your bookmarked links should redirect you to Exchanges.
We look forward to seeing you all in the WebMD Health Exchange!

On Friday, February 26th WebMD is going to bring you the new WebMD Health Exchange!
This next stage of community here at WebMD has been created to provide our members with access to MORE expert feedback on a diverse group of health and wellness topics and to offer members the chance to customize their community to better fit their own needs.
On Thursday, Feb. 25, at noon our current message boards will be put into a read-only state, which means if you visit you’ll be able to read the posts, but not add new messages. The boards will remain read-only through Friday, Feb. 26, and will be completely down for a few hours as we port over the content from boards into the new Exchanges.
On the evening of February 26th, The WebMD Health Exchange will open its doors to our members and the public.
Any bookmarks that you have set for message boards will redirect you to your new space within The WebMD Health Exchange. If you do not have your favorite board links saved, you may want to do so before Thursday, Feb. 25. And don’t worry, if your board is being migrated, your posts from the last 12 months will be waiting for you in your new Exchanges!
Most of our boards will come over to Exchanges. However, some of our boards will be closed down.
We will be posting individually to all our message boards tomorrow to let you know where you will go to find your WebMD message board friends. If your board is not porting over we’ll direct you to the place that best fits your needs.
Here is some information that may be helpful to you as we begin this transition:
Profile Photos Members can now upload their profile photos from their Registration Profile page. You can access that page from boards by looking in the top right corner of the page and click on Manage Account. If you want your photo or image to show up on all your past posts as well as you new posts in The WebMD Health Exchange, you will want to upload your image by end of day, Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Uploading your profile photo/image can also enter you in the WebMD Health Exchange Profile Photo Upload Sweepstakes. The monthly grand prize is $1000 cash! Visit the new Registration Profile page to upload your photo today!
Save Your Persona! Don’t forget to save your My Persona information, as well as your list of favorite discussions, to a file on your computer. You may want to use a text file format, such as Notepad to make it easier to cut and paste your information into your new Exchange profile. This information won’t be saved by WebMD, and won’t be accessible after the new platform launches.
Your Own Public or Invitation-Only Exchanges In addition to more than 100 public Exchanges - many with leading health experts - that will be available, you can also create your own Exchange. Make it public or invitation-only; national or local; open to anyone who wants to join or just for you and your family or friends. The WebMD Health Exchange has all of the features to set it apart as the place where YOUR friends, family, and others like you come for health information. So get ready to create your own space, and claim your turf!
If the board you currently belong to is going away, you can build your own Exchange on that topic and invite your WebMD friends to join you there.
While you’re waiting for The WebMD Health Exchange to launch, keep an eye on our community blog to get a sneak peek at what it all will look like. And once it is launched, we will be having live guided sessions on how you can use the WebMD Health Exchanges to get help and give help.
Be sure to direct any questions, comments, or concerns to us at exchangemanagement@webmd.net.
Yours in Health,

I think that there is no universal set of side effects of transplant. Some of us have more problems than others. I was pretty lucky. My biggest problem initially was depression (never got angry because I wasn't on pred at all) and I got some medication for it. I'm not pushing it, just saying what worked for me. I went off it eventually.
I am now 7 1/2 years post kidney transplant and had a pancreas transplant in 2008. I found the first year after each transplant the hardest. But things for me are going quite well. I am now on rapamune and myfortic and things are stable.
Take care.
