My Story:
I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes in 1966. In the 70s I was told I had protein in my urine but my kidney damage progressed very slowly (in part I think due to working hard to take good care of myself). I went on dialysis in 2001 and got a kidney from my cousin in 2002 (she gave it to me on her birthday!). In 2008 I had a pancreas transplant and have been insulin free since April 27th of that year. Wow! Isn't technology a wonderful thing?
