to be monitored after such a major surgery. I had mine done
8 weeks ago and was in the hospital for 3 days before
being moved to rehab. It is a very painful surgery and you
will need to take pain meds and also get started right
away with therapy. I agree with Swank. I would advise you
to see another Dr. Good luck!View Thread

have also been following through with exercies at home. My bending is good but I am still having a problem with my extension. I went to
the surgeon this morning and he wants me to continue with therapy
for another month and then go back to him. If the extension is still
not good then he suggested doing manipulation. Of course I am
very concerned about the possibility of having this done. I really
don't feel like being knocked out again. Has anybody had this done
and if so did you find that if made a difference? Having gone
through the knee replacement I will do whatever it takes to get the
knee right but am hoping it doesn't come to that.View Thread

would have subsided. The nights are awful. I am taking oxycodone
at night for the pain but am still waking up. I spoke to my Dr and told
him that I can't take a narcotic drug during the day because it makes
me so tired and I just finished in home therapy and on Monday will
be starting out patient. I cannot be driving and taking narctics, My
Dr suggested I take 3 advil twice a day. Nothing seems to be
helping and since I got out of bed this morning it is all I can do to
walk. Some days are better than others. I would love to hear from
people who have gone through this and would like to know if they
still had a lot of pain at 5 weeks.View Thread

afterwards that my surgeon does not use the CPM machine. That
was one question I never thought to ask because I thought all Dr's
used it. I am having therapy at home and although it is helping I do
find that my knee stiffens quite often. I can't help but think that I
would have benefited from the CPM. I have friends that had TKR
and feel the machine is helping. I have also heard that out patient
therapy is tougher when the machine is not used because the knee
is so stiff and it needs more work. Does anybody have input on this?
If you didn't use the machine how are you doing now?View Thread

Thanks for your input. I am now one month and a few days
out of surgery and can't believe the pain I am still getting.
Sleeping at night just doesn't happen. I am taking my pain
meds but it doesn't help much. The past few nights I have
aches in my calves. I spoke to my therapist about that and
she said I am in the aggressive stages of healing and this
will go on for the next few weeks. However, my friend also
had a TKR the same day as me and has no pain at all.
She is using the CPM machine daily though. I will never
understand why my Dr doesn't use it. I can't help but think
that he is holding me back. Yesterday I was bending at 95
the therapist pushed me to 100 so I was happy with that.
My friend with the CPM is also bending at 95. So I do seem
to be coming along. I want to wish you good luck with your
other knee replacement! Yes, patience and ice packs
are our friends. Although sometimes I am not so sure
about the patience part!View Thread

surgeon this past week and he said my white blood count is high.
He wants me to have it repeated next Saturday. That is two days before surgery and he won't even have the results back in time for Mondays surgery. Has anyone gone thorugh this. If you did what were the end results. I have heard that if I have an infection and it goes
through my bloodstream it could make the surgery a disaster. I just
don't know what to do at this pointView Thread

informative. I also met with the surgeon today and he told
me he is doing the less invasive surgery. That made my day! It
is less cutting and could be a shorter recovery period. Being I
live alone I will be going to rehab and staying for about a week.
I would rather come home but don't think that is the wise
thing to do. I know the case manager will come and see me and disucss what I will need from the surgical supply store.
I can honestly say that I am ready for this. 11 more days!
Thanks for your kind words.View Thread
