I was not advised to have dental work before I started taking Prolia. I had my first shot in December 2011. I just recently had a filling done, but now I need to have a root canal. I have stressed to my dentist that I am on osteo drugs. He says it is okay to have the root canal. What is your opinion.View Thread
Ok. So I sayed a prayer and took the Boniva. It wasn't so bad. Just a liitle fizzing sensation after I took it, then some belching (kinda like an alka-sekltzer) Question, I am only on 50,000 IU of Vit D. I asked my doctor about taking calcium also because everything I have read says I need both. My doctor says I don't need the calcium because there is no proof that it helps. He has really confused me.View Thread
1. Does anyone have any information about the Electro Magnetic Mat. From the stuff I've seen, this appears to work. Will insurance companies pay for this or would this be considered experimental treatment?
2. Dumb Question - I had breast cancer 10 years ago (age 39) and was put on Tamoxafin, which eventually caused severe bleeding and I ended up have a hystroectomy(?). I understand this med, along with Arimidex (which I also took) may be the cause of my osteo. Question is since I had a hysto, what is my menapausal status and do the osteo drugs contain hormones.
3. This question is for the professional to answer - If you were diasgnoised with osteoporosos, which drug would you take. I know it is a personal choice, but I am having such a hard time deciding whether or not to take Boniva (which I was prescribed). I prefer to take drugs that have been on the market longer.
I feel like I need counseling for this disease. I feel like I am walking on cotton. I have not fallen, but this diagnosis has me believing that my next step will be fatal....I am literally loosing my mind thinking about this.View Thread
Hi, can you please clarify this for me. I received a copy of my MRI and bone density and they appear to say two different things.
MRI L-Spine w/o Contrast - Impression - 02/12/2001 1.2.8 generalized disc bulge and L4-5 with slight thecal sac compression. The disc is dehydrated. A degenerative fissure in annulus is present. 2. The lumbar spine is otherwise normal
Bone Density - Impression - 11/11-/2010 1. Very advanced osteopenis of the lumbar spine with a T-score of -2.42. 2. Mild ostepenia of the femoral necks with a T-score of -1.1 which is borderline normal.View Thread
I was just told I have ostepenia and not osteporasis. Is one less serious than the other. Also I was given Boniva to take. Is this an estrogen? Just wondering because I had breast cancer 10 years ago and remember the doctor saying I should not be given hormonal meds. I am so afraid of taking the osteo drugs because of all of the SERIOUS side effects. Can just Vitamin D help reverse my bone loss?View Thread
