I have a 25yo daughter, she weighs about 91lbs and is about 5ft, who went through premature ovarian failure when she was 18yo. She also has Osteoporosis and Osteopenia in her back, hips, and neck. She also has mild - moderate curve in her spine. The doctor would like to put her on Fosamax but I can't find any research on someone her age taking it. There are a lot of side effects to this medicine and I would like to know if there is going to be any long term effects to her health??? Are there any younger people on this medicine and how are you doing with it??? Thanks for the help!!!View Thread
Thank you very much for the response. My daughter has been on estrogen (birth control pills) for the last 8yrs and she has seen a doctor at Mass General in Boston. Their findings for the premature ovarian failure was that she wasn't born with enough eggs. She is going to see a bone specialist in another month and she is not going to take the fosamax until she has talked to the specialist. Our biggest problem is that we are 400 miles north of Boston and about 170 miles from any kind of specialist. The doctors up here have a hard time treating her because it is so uncommon in this area. They are treating her like she is 50yo, and when we ask any questions they can't give us any answers. It is really frustrating! Again thank you!!!View Thread
