I was put in the black compression boot for a broken 1st metatarsal that just missed clearing the joint for 6 weeks, non-weight bearing. I am 59 years old and on Friday the doctor said your bone is healed, take off the boot and start walking. I couldn't believe the pain and the loss of muscle, tendons and ligaments, including my butt muscles. She let me go back to work, 14hr days walking. I am in constant pain and swelling that extends up the calf throughout the day. I went back on Wednesday, thinking something isn't right. She took another xray, all is well. Then said I was retaining water at the ankle. How does one retain water at only 1 ankle? Now my knee and back bother me. She said, "walk in a pool, put on compression stockings 10mm and ride a stationary bike." I guess this is new medicine? So, my day off, riding a bike, walked in the pool 2 days ago. I haven't seen any change.View Thread
