Should I get a second option?View Thread
As a participant, you will be asked to communicate within the Facebook group, Chemo Chat. By reading the communication on the wall within this group, I can establish to what extent the group might affect patient-to-patient interactions. You are encouraged to log on and communicate with other group members at least once per week and are not limited to any particular subject while communicating.
Using Chemo Chat as a Facebook community is the least costly method of research within the chemotherapy community, and allows me to quickly assess conversations and retrieve data. It also provides me the opportunity to add a level of confidentiality by keeping the group closed, or private. This means that the only users who can view any of the group content are the Chemo Chat members.
When reviewing the posts of other group members, you may not feel comfortable discussing personal health information. To minimize this risk and ensure confidentiality, Chemo Chat has been designed as an invitation-only, or closed group, which means that only the administrator, Emily Garber, and all other invited group members can view the posts. All other Chemo Chat group members are current chemotherapy patients. After the Chemo Chat research project is completed on April 1, 2013, the administrator, Emily Garber, will keep the group on Facebook but will no longer be collecting data from the posts. The data gathered for this capstone project will be used for a final project presentation to the graduate faculty and graduate students of the University of West Florida's Department of Communication Arts in April.
In order to participate, please log on to your Facebook profile and request to become a member of Chemo Chat, at http://www.facebook.com/groups/chemochat/
You must also sign the Informed Consent to Participate in Research Study form, which can be accessed at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YC0XtvUtFKKD6AmzOWh0IK9UJzPwNs3-hmDLrykG1Ig/edit and e-mail the signed document to the administrator, at eag20@students.uwf.edu
You will be added shortly thereafter by the administrator, Emily Garber.
Thank you for your participation!

Impression: prominent pelvicalyceal systems of both kidneys, without demonstrated point of obstruction, persist postvoid, with the possibility of renal obstruction cannot be excluded.
next ?
intermediate attenuation area of the right pelvic wall, ovarian cyst? other lesions, such as a focal soft tissue mass, of ovary are also in the differential diagnosis at this point.
Can any one make any suggestions on what this is suppose to mean???View Thread
After few days she started complaining about pain in her ovaries, her period started coming every other week regularly, like after every week. This started in September and happened till December and now she hasn't gotten her period in about a month and a half.
She went and got a pap smear done and everything came fine there.
She's really freaking out.
I have tried looking extensively online but someone's saying something, other person is saying something else.
I just need some pointers as to what it could be ? any thoughts ?
i don't expect a full diagnosis and understand it could be multitude of things, but just need some direction so that I could relay this information to her and explain to her ....View Thread

For about 4-6 weeks now, I have been having occasional sharp pains in the left pelvic area and in the center, as well as alot of cramping (not just during my period). For about that same length of time I have felt full quickly and not been able to eat much. I also have had urinary frequency/urgency and thought that I had a UTI twice but tested negative. During the last 2-3 weeks, I have had severe lower abdominal bloating, nausea, shortness of breath. I have been trying for some time to lose weight and cannot lose even at 1200-1500 calories and working on with a personal trainer 3 days a week. I haven't had much unusual bleeding but I have had some spotting a few times (bright red and very small amount).
I do have a family history of both ovarian and breast cancer. I'm concerned that these could be signs of ovarian cancer. I did have a CT scan a couple days ago and am waiting for my doctor's appt tomorrow afternoon.View Thread
The doctor did a CT scan after surgery and found more cancer on her kidney, liver and bladder.
The doctor says she will start chemo therapy in about two weeks.
I have so many questions, the doctor says the cancer is in stage 3-4 whatever that means.
I just want to know if this is something we can beat or if I am losing my wife. We were blind-sided with this out of nowhere. No symptoms, no nothing. She went in for a routine check-up and was immediately scheduled for surgery. Now we're told the cancer has spread from her ovaries to other areas. I just want to know what to expect.View Thread

But it's all I think about - I figured I should ask.

I have so many questions.
No ovaries to me means:
No - low arousal
No orgasms
Losing feminine qualities
Shorter lifespan
Dangerous hormone replacement
LACK of quality care (1 more thing to monitor regularly)
Where do I find out information that helps me decide if this choice is right for me? My mother is currently battling ovarian cancer. I just want REAL info from REAL women who've been through it...
THank you.View Thread
Three years ago, I started getting this weird feeling in my right ovary area. It wasn't pain, but a discomfort. I went in for an ultrasound, which showed a cyst in my right ovary. I went back for another ultrasound 6 months later and the cyst was still there. 3 months later, I had another ultrasound done, and the cyst was gone but the discomfort was still there. So.... I had a CT scan done and it showed everything as normal. During this time, I had blood work done, and it showed that my white blood cell count as low. Went in for another blood test a few days later, and it showed as normal. The doctor didn't really explain this to me. She told me not to worry.
Around the same time the discomfort started, my period became irregular. Before, my period lasted 5 days, but now it's only 3 days long. My cycle used to be 28-30 days, but now my cycle is around 40 days. The blood doesn't drip, it comes out in clumps.
The discomfort turned into sharp, sporadic pain, which radiates a weird sensation down my right inner thigh. It's not really pain, it's just this weird feeling.
Also, I had unprotected sex with my husband for 3 years and haven't gotten pregnant.

I had a laparoscopy done a few weeks ago to see if it's endometriosis. It's not. The doctor didn't find anything wrong with my insides. Also, the CA-125 came out normal as well. So.....
What can it be? Every test I've taken shows that I'm normal. My gyn is as confused as I am.
PLEASE HELP!View Thread
But I am having a problem that I would like to know if any other long time survivors have had the problem with. There is like these bumps or knots on the outside of my vagina and along the inside of my legs. Doctor has given me antibiotic but doesn't seem to be helping. I will see him again in 2 weeks, but was just wondering if anyone has or have problems with this.View Thread

Last Wednesday night my legs suddenly began to swell. I mean within minutes. I did the elevation thing and they went down but where discolored so I went to the doctor the next day. By Friday he had taken blood tests for my liver, kidneys, and heart. Those along with my test for clots came out negative. But I had also let him know that I had lower back pain. The back pain has become worse in the last week and I let him know that it includes a burning pressure in my pelvic area & abdomen. I also have bloating in my stomach, which I NEVER have. My stomach is perfectly flat! He leaves a message and tells me that the bloating is probably from ingesting too much air & to use heat and stretches for my back! He has not looked at my back or abdomen. When I got upset they asked me what I wanted them to do now. Did I want to come back in again? No I pass. I'm going to a real doctor this time!View Thread
My CT Scan showed a complex mass of 27.91 x 23.20 mm on my right adnexa. Also, I have enlarged periaortic lyphm nodes measuring at 15.75mm.
My gastro. oncologist wants me seen within a week or two, although, the gyno. oncologist doesn't have anything available for three weeks! So, I'm silently freaking out. Any help or advice would be great!
Thanks,
KatView Thread
