This is all new to me. I'm at a loss of words and knowledge about the steps of treating cancer. I've been reading up on hysterectomies, radiation, chemotherapy, and such. I'm just looking for advice, support, and your experience to better understand what I will be experiencing in the next couple of days/weeks/months.
Thanks in advance.View Thread
Fast forward to this month: After ignoring abdominal pains that have been with me for over a year, I finally went to the ER after having woken up 3 nights in one month to sever abdominal pain, vomiting, cold sweats and passing out. I don;t have insurance so I had to go to the county hospital where after 14 hours of waiting, I saw a doctor and had a sonogram. It revealed an enlarged uterus and a cyst that measures around 10inx11inx9in. The ER doctor told me she would put in for an appointment for me with their low-cost clinic and I was to call in 3 days to find out when my appointment was. I called on the designated day and was told that the earliest I could get in to talk to a surgeon re: the sono and surgery in in NOVEMBER.
I'm in pain here and I don;t think waiting until November is going to be feasible BUT I have no other options. I'm already devestated at the thought of losing my last ovary without ever having had a child.
Since I am still having my period regularly, I wonder if I can get pregnant before my appointment? I don't even know if it's possible or healthy and I can't find information on the internet about getting pregnant with a cyst this big.View Thread

So its been about a week since I had the depo shot and other than the spotting nothing has changed, I've recently started having a pressure feeling in my pelvic area, and I've gotten discharge again, pain/ pressure in lower back, pressure on upper thigh region, not sure if it's normal or abnormal, and I've been extremely fatigued.....I'm so scared......I'm so scared I have cancer and they don't know *crying*. This pain has effected my life as a mother and wife....I need answers and I'm not getting them. My pcp thinks it's time I get a laprascopy but she says that's something inhale to talk with my ob about cause they are the ones that do it.
I go in next tuesday for another transvaginal ultrasound, and May 4th is the earliest that the ob can get me in for an appointment......I just don't know what to do or think at this point, I now have it in my head that I'm going to die, I'm going to die of cancer that they haven't detected.....I'm so horrified.
Please I need some guidance I need answers not another run around.View Thread
I am new to the boards. I have been urged by my doctors to reach out for support. last summer i was diagnosed with stage 1 grade 1 OC. After two surgeries and the removal of my right ovary and fallopian tube it looked like i was in the clear, however recently i was told it had sread to my left ovary. Now I am getting ready to start of one cycle of IVF to save some eggs before my surgery in 6 weeks. I am fourtnate enough that my doctors caught it early so it really good odds that i will be ok, but i am having a really hard time dealing with the loss of my fertility. i am terrified that this one shot at IVF isnt going to work. I am not sure how to deal with my feelings of this loss. thanks for listening...View Thread
I have started treatment, 3 rounds of chemo 21 days apart, surgery and then 3 more rounds of chemo 21 days apart. I have had one round of Chemo. I have been having really strange thoughts and I am wondering if others receiving Chemo feel the same. Sometimes it just feels like this is all happening to someone elses body. I feel too healthy to have cancer.
Does each round of chemo get worse? 3 days after my first round, I was achey, sleepy and not at all hungry for 3 days. I ate not out of hunger, but it was time to eat. One week after that first chemo treatment I am back to full energy and ready to take on the world.
I am told that I have a long fight ahead of me. I feel fine and do not know what to expect. I have been looking on the internet but do not find any answers but come up blank. Can someone tell me what is ahead? Do you feel sicker after each treatment for longer?View Thread
I have a sister who had breast cancer twice and I understand that puts me at greater risk of ovarian cancer, even though she tested negative for the BRCA gene.
Do post-menopausal women get ovarian cysts, fibroids, polyps?View Thread
My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on December 1, 2011 and died on January 18, 2012.
It is hitting me very hard and I don't even know what to do.
My main questions for this site are how hereditary is ovarian cancer? I have two beautiful daughters (one of whom has a history of brain cancer) that I need to be here for. I know I am done having children...should I talk to my gynecologist about having my ovaries removed? A hysterectomy too?
I may be completely overreacting and making this about myself, but I am scared. And I miss my mother so much.
Any words of advice anyone might have would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Christine's DaughterView Thread

I started to read about others with cysts that the dr has ultra sounds and bloodwork. I had only the catscan.
I do not want to lose my feminity or sexuality that comes with being a woman. I have finally found the love of my life and he says we will work through it. I also have never felt so satisfied sexually and this treatens to take it away.
There were 3 abnormal paps 2 years ago and then it was normal. Was told to go on like normal.
I had been having problems with pain in my groin and pelvic area for 1 1/2 yr. I have been to my pain management doctor thinking it was my fibromyalgia. He kept blowing me off and kept giving me muscle relaxers. I kept telling him the pain was still there. I explained my pain would come everytime i pushed a shopping cart and at the end of my day around 9 pm when i finally sit down to get ready for bed. Finally, He said I will have to see abdominal dr.
That led me to my primary physcian. He took xrays and told me my bones were fine. He also wanted to do a pap and internal. So I complied and he said my internal was normal. I asked him what to do and he told me that nothing was wrong. He asked if i had any problems urninating and I said yes, i have to push hard to uriniate. He said I was fine.
My primary dr prior to this asked me if I was done having children and advised he could do my exams at his office.
I started to get this pain more frequent and with many more complications.vommiting/Nausea, diaharrea and constipation, acne, tired more easily, pressure in my hip, unable to pee.
I ended in the ER with pain so bad I could not sit up straight. I was given morphine and pain was still horrible. I got a cat scan and told the tech my pain was on my right. The doctor asked me if i was sure it was my right and I put my fingers in the spot. Well he said "that is funny you have nothing wrong with your right. Are you sure?" I said yes it was my right. He did say that I had a small cyst on my left ovary though. And that my pain was not related to my cyst.
I cried in my husbands arms. All I got was my discharge papers that said to see a ob/gyn and a script for tramadol. I was wheeled out of the ER.
That lead me to the specialist.View Thread
