I was diagnosed earlier in 2002 (almost a yr exactly before the OC)with a DVT, which led to finding I had Factor V Lieden(clotting factor)& at some time before this ,I had apparently had a Pulmonary Embolism, for I had scar tissue. Now, I take Cuomidin everyday. I also have a Vena Cava filter.
I am now feeling pretty good but I find I have hotflashes and no sexual desire, though I think about it, but find it basically not there. I am only 54 , single and would like to possibly have a relationship again somewhere down the line.
I was told that i could not do hormone replacements because of the cancer...so what to do???
Hope someone out there can give me some ideas....View Thread

I'm only 28. This has never been an issue for me before.
I went to the ER wed. night with severe abdominal pain. A CAT scan revealed a burst ovarian cyst. I was given IV painkillers (my first time ever on an IV & first time ever in a CAT scan).
The dr. said that the body will take care of it by itself now. Is this true?
I am a survivor of past ab*se and am not emotionally able to see a gyno. At all. Ever. But some people I spoke with about this ovarian cyst mentioned the possibility of my getting an ultrasound.
The CAT scan was retraumatizing. I know for a fact that I would not be able to handle an ultrasound. Will my body truly 'just' take care of it from here on out?
I'm clueless about what to do next, if anything. Thanks for your help and suggestions.View Thread

I am going for an ultrasound tomorrow...but I just wanted to throw my story out here to see if anyone has had any similar experiences. I have not been diagnosed with cancer.
For the last five or six years (I am 30...no pregnancies or babies), my periods have gotten worse. It is to the point now that I take at least 1 to 2 days off per month from work because the bleeding is so heavy that it 1. leaks through my pad and onto my underwear and clothing during my 30 minute drive into work (I am changing my pad at least every hour) and 2. beause the heavy bleeding makes me feel like a zombie. More recently, I have been having really bad pelvic pain...aside from the normal and severly painful menstrual cramps that accompany the heavy flow. The pelvic pain started only around the time I would have PMS, but now, within the last couple months it is here constantly. I have trouble sitting for long periods of time, walking hurts a lot and my lower back is always sore. I am obese...so I have chocked up any symptoms to just being fat and telling myself that it will go away when I have my lapband surgery and lose weight...but I know plenty of fat ladies that don't feel like this.
Anyway...my last period ended 2 weeks ago. I was spotting yesterday and had some mild cramping. This does tend to happen from time to time. But, what is really concerning me is that normally I bounce back from my horrid periods a day or two after it finishes, but this time, I can't bounce back. I am utterly exhausted, to the point that I have to fight to keep my eyes open on my way to and from work. I have been going to bed earlier, drinking coffee during the day to stay awake. I would try exercising, but like I said, my hips and back (pelvis) are killing me. It's really irritating. I do have IBS, so I am constipated and have loose bowels all the time. I feel like these issues are separate from that.
Oh, and two more things...under my right arm I keep getting recurring cysts that are extremely painful. They will "pop", but they keep coming back. I have switched from antipersperant to all natural deodorant and that SEEMED to help, but it hasn't as another one is growing again. AND, I can't seem to get rid of my foul vaginal odor...I know...it's gross, but it's true. It seems to get particularly bad right before my period and then goes away after...this time, it hasn't gone away.
Thanks for reading and any advice...I have seen my doctor, but I am just beginning testing.View Thread
Well 3 days ago, it happened again expect it actually lasted longer this time, but I havent gone to the ER because Im already paying off dental bills, I dont want to be charged for and ER visit and what not if its not a big deal.. I am still in pain, and Ive been extra nauseated. Ive been feeling really sick lately anyways, but this just added to it. Am I making the right choice? Am I ok to work?
And I dont know if it could be related, but I havent had my period in 3 months. previously when I've gone to the doctor for it, I was told that it was usual for women with PCOS. And I took a test right after I missed the first one and it came up negative.
Any feedback would be very appreciated. Im worried and dont know what to do.

I am 28 years old, and have no family history of gyn/breast cancer- however, I have been going on 6 months of pelvic pressure, pain, night sweats, hip and lower back pain, irregular bleeding (mostly dark brown- currently bright red), digestive problems (fullness and bloating), urinary (frequency and urgency) and breast problems (feeling fullness, let downs like breast feeding, and swollen lymph nodes).
My gyn has ordered an ultrasound, since she believes it to be a cyst- and has given me pain relievers for the pain. Even that only masks the pain, and the pressure/bloating & other symptoms are still present. I have had a history of painless cysts (found during pregnancy ultrasound- the pain is in the same area).
My worries are that I have ovarian cancer, since my symptoms are so serious and aggressive. The pain makes it very difficult to sit, walk, or lay down. The ultrasound is in 3 weeks, and the results of my pap smear are due back in 2 days.
Are there any real markers for the difference in the two?
I have had 3 children, and breastfed for prolonged periods with 2 of them. Currently I have an Implanon Rod in my left arm as birth control, since having an IUD become infected and removed (required a 3 day hospital stay). The current pain resembles the pain from the infection, but there has not been a remarkable fever with this current pain.
Also, I have been having headaches, which I attribute to stress (very stressful career & home life).
Can anyone help me with this situation?View Thread
I could really use some advice. Almost 4 months ago now, I started experiencing an abnormal vaginal discharge - only when having sexual intercourse with my partner. I thought maybe I had missed a pill and was spotting. Well, as the months went on it got worse and worse, and is now a constant discharge. The discharge is brown in colour and smells terrible. I also started bloating in the abdoment and experiencing pain on my left side. Not having a family doctor, I headed to the ER and was given antibiotics for an infection, a swab test, and an ultrasound. The results of the swab test showed absolutely nothing - no STD's, not even an infection. The ultrasound only showed an ovarian cyst, but also no signs of infection. I was told to finish the antibiotics anyway (since I had already started them) and to take some anti-inflamatories for the cyst to help it go away. I've now completed both perscriptions. The pain and swelling is pretty much gone. The discharge has decreased, but is definitely no where near gone. The colour and smell are still just as awful. Family members have advised me just to wait and see if it gets better, but I'm sick of waiting and sick of being sick. It's an embarassing problem, and I want my life back! As far as I can tell, the discharge is not a normal symptom of an ovarian cyst. I feel there must be something else going on, but all the tests showed nothing. Help please?
Thank you!View Thread
I know this is kind-of an odd question, however, I was wondering how many of you have or have had endometriosis or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? I have both of these and have been told that I am at a very high risk for uterine and ovarian cancers. Thanks in advance for your answers!View Thread
