If your not familiar with VSG basically they cut about 80% of your stomach out and it's more cylinder shaped(hence vertical) and you just can't eat as much. This has became a much more accepted/popular method bc their is no moving around intestines, etc and has just as good or possibly better weight loss results. This was started when some people were too large or it was too dangerous to have the bypass surgery, and people would have this surgery and then not need to do the bypass after all. It's very rare that this new stomach can stretch bc the stretchy part where the hunger hormone is made was removed.

The only thing that sucks is if you really want to eat a meal, you just Can't. But that's only every once in a while so it's not so bad.
Good luck and let me know!View Thread

Last time I was on was sometime after my brother passed away back in March(at least I think that was when I was on last). I'm still dealing with that, idk if ill ever get over it, we were really close.
I'm not doing great with my pain right now! I did A LOT OF WALKING over the past week and a half and I guess it irritated some nerves or muscles in my back and WOW I haven't hurt so bad since I did in 2009 when I thought I had ruptured a disc. Anyway..I went and had a massage and had my dr call in a steroid pack and I seem to be doing better, havent had a horrible episode since the massage Thursday but I still feel like I'm hurting more than normal. I just applied for the Federal Pre Existing Insurance Plan(about 220/mo). I want to go back on OxyContin but can't afford it without insurance since its over 400/mo! I'm still taking Roxicodone 15mg 4x day and MS Contin 30mg 3x day, Soma 350 1 x day and my leg started bothering me again so I'm having an epidural on Nov 2nd! It's been prob almost 2 years since I've had one so that one held for quite a while.
Got a lot going on this next week, my Nana is having knee replacement surgery Monday morning, ill be taking care of her while she recovers over the next few weeks or so. Anyone that has had it- tell me how you needed help, etc. any info you can offer is helpful. Graduate from Dental Assisting School on Saturday!! Hopefully ill find a job soon!
Anyway that's all for now, hope everyone is doing ok(as ok as we all can be in pain).

I will be having the lap band within the next month and I have heard that I cannot take extended release pain meds due to the absorption issue and/or getting stuck since you can't crush them like an IR.
Anyone have any experience with this or any nurses out there that know anything about this?
I did post this in the diet forum as well but wanted to check here too.
Thanks everyone!

Ps- Sorry I haven't been online in so long. My life has been just turned upside down! A lot of you know i cared for my brother and he was very sick over the past 6 months and he passed in march
So it's been very hard and i've just been keeping myself busy with other things(trying to anyway). Anyway i just wanted to let you all know why I had not been on in so long!View Thread
I have been having a catch in my back for a while now and it just seems to get worse. Almosy anytime I turn right or left, it catches in my mid back and makes me want to scream(sometimes I do). What causes this??
Thanks!
JohnathanView Thread

I plan on it but, I don't go back til Janurary
and thought maybe their was a specific reason you get a catch in your back. I've had it happen before but it's almost a daily and quite often a day problem now so I really am counting down to my next appt. lol
Take care

I haven't been on in a LOOOONG time! Hope everyone is doing well these days!
My Dilemma is that I turn 26 on June 22nd, My insurance becomes inactive at 12am June 22nd since I am on my Mom's Group plan through her employer.
I have tried getting new coverage through my current health insurer(blue cross blue shield) Aetna, United Health Care, Humana, and idk who else!
Everyone is denying me because of preexisting conditions.
As you all know prescriptions are rediculious,
My Meds are without insurance:
Oxycontin 30mg $370/mo
Roxicodone 15mg $75/mo
Protonix is around $70
The Synthroid & Ambien aren't that bad but just those three are over $500!
Then the Dr's Visit, thankfully i only see my PM Dr 1x every 3 month's and my primary 1x every 3 or 4 month's but i do get epidural's a few time's a year, the hospital will cover those with my current income but i still have to pay the Dr for that, so I am in such a mess!
Does ANYONE know of a High Risk insurance company? Or a Prescription card that i can pay for to get a copay? anything???
I really don't wanna go back on MS Contin, or Methadone, they just didn't help that much.
I finally get to where my meds have worked better than ever & now i'm probably going back to something that doesn't help as much
Anyway if ANYONE has ANY INFORMATION that can help me...PLEASE RESPOND!!

Thanks for your response.
You should know though that i think you got the wrong idea.
I don't expect anyone to give me free insurance. The reason as stated above, In 2014 Insurance companies have to cover Adult's with Preexisting conditions, not because I expect the government to give me insurance. As of now, They have to cover children.View Thread

I can't wait for 2014 when law goes into affect so that Insurance companies HAVE to cover you regardless of preexisting condition's.View Thread
