I know, I know, it has been a long time since I have been here, but, I wanted something of substance to report before bothering anyone?! I hope all are well, or as well as can be??? I guess I am?
Ok, here goes; I have gone through with the Psychiatrist for my prep for a Pain Pump. He only gave me four sessions, because I already practice what they preach, so to speak?! C.B.T.. That's right, they only want you to know how to take your mind off, or away from your chronic pain?! Ok, I had an over the phone consult with my Pain Management Specialist, and he says he will get with some people, and start the next phase. He didn't tell me there was a next phase? I thought I went for surgery after the Psych. Dr.? Well, this is through the V.A., soooo??? Who knows what may be next?
Well, I think that covers that? Now on to just lil ole me. I have been about the same? Unbearable pain I have no choice but to bear! I really did hope that last fusion surgery would have helped some, but I don't feel any different?! I have like, one free vertebrate left in my poor neck! My back hurts worse. I suppose that will be next? I wonder how many surgeries will I go through just to keep suffering??? I don't know how some do it, but they seem to be happy, even tho they are living with chronic pain, also?
Ok, I don't want to turn this into a pity me party, so, I will sign off for now!!! I hope all of you fellow nerve pain sufferers find relief!!! And anyone with chronic pain, I hope you find some kind of relief, also!!!
Mary Jane for medical use, YES, just for smoking, NO!
No, I do not think a doctor of any kind, should be allowed to drug test you, unless its court ordered!!! Otherwise, I do believe it fringes on your right to privacy! What a person does behind closed doors, should be left behind those doors!!! Even if it might kill them, it is still your own private choice, no one elses!!!
Privacy means PRIVATE!!! Anything else is just wrong!!!
This is just my opinion! I know someone in Colo. that is prescribed med. pot, he does not have to disclose that to his P.M.D.! That is not even in his contract!
One day, and I hope its soon, everyone will be able to have the choice to smoke pot, or not! Just as it should be!!! And our greedy government, will get billions and billions of tax dollars!!!
Just can't feed the over grown piggy bank (Government) enough!!!
The V.A. has finally called back, and has set me up with my first appointment with a psychologist. Yippee skippy!!! I can't wait to get all of this behind me, so I can get the surgery done and outta the way. I need some relief!!! I don't think there is a drug in the world that can stop never damage pain? However, I have heard and read nothing but good things about this pump!!! Everyone claims to get excellent relief themselves! I truly hope this will work for me, also!!!
Well, that's about it? Nothing else to really put out there, so, I shall sign off for now! I will be back daily to read any responses! I hope to hear from all of you who have gone through this yourself?!
Thank you all, and a HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL HERE!!!
Dr. Abaci's idea's are great, but I suggest you find a pain management specialist!!! A pain management doctor can figure out what is causing you pain, and hopefully, give you the relief you seek?! Unfortunately, you may have to be referred there by your primary care doctor? And if they don't want to help you, then you are screwed! Or, find another G.P. who will help you!!!
That is very unfortunate, but it seems as if you have one of those doctors that like to put you through un-needed tests? Some do it for the money, other's, just to cover their tracks. I suggest you go along, or find another doctor?! Once all of the tests he scheduled for you come back negative, perhaps then he will send you for an M.R.I.???
Thanks for the laugh, also!!! Yea, I know that watermelon feeling, I got the hernia to prove it! Bigger a-hole, yep that fits me. Sometime the pain overwhelms me, and I get a little testy?!
That is all I want to, Tom, just a little relief!!! This burning has been going on since mid 2000's, and it is driving me crazy!!! The lyrica helped a little, at first, now I am up to 400mg's a day, and it doesn't do much anymore. I begged the doctor's to remove my arm, but they refuse. I suppose they have to? But, it would be the relief I wish for! That is why I am with you on the little. Anything would be better than this!!!
Thank you for responding! Yes, I have tried most everything. Nothing comes close to giving me relief. So, my Pain Management Specialist in the V.A. hospital has recommended I get the pain pump. I have seriously considered this, and I believe as you do. It has to be better than what I am currently doing, right? The side effects of all this morphine, on top of everything else, is just too much! Like the level of my pain is too much! I do not believe the morphine is helping, I think it just makes the lyrica last longer? I.D.K.? All I do know is this, I can't take it any more!
I guess I will have to tell my doctor to set things up? Everyone, or every story I have heard, has told me they get awesome relief with the pain pump. I am not too happy with even more surgery, but if I can get this pain down to something I could live with, then I have to do it!!! Plus, I am sick and tired of taking all these pills, they constipate me to no end! I hope to see some relief in that area, also!
Thank you, again!!! I will keep all informed of how this process goes, it is quite lengthy, I believe?! There is also a scychiatrist (sp?) involved in there somewhere? There will be a lot of waiting on my end, that is just how the V.A. works! Oh well, as long as its for a good cause!
Hi Sam, thanks for the info! Unfortunately, Chiropractics will do nothing for me. I have nerve damage, severe nerve damage! I have an intense burning sensation every second of every day! Its non stop! I currently take 600mgs of morphine a day, plus 400mgs of lyrica, and I take oxycodone for breakthrough pain four times a day. My life is miserable! Something more drastic has to be done!
