What??? How can they call themselves Dr.s? I thought Dr.s were supposed to help people, not hinder them? How could they even think that way? Wait, i just answered my own question. They do not have chronic pain. Therefore, they feel nothing for those of us with it!
If there is any way i can help fight their ignorance, please let me know? I am very grateful to you, for bringing this to our attention! Thank you, DennisView Thread
Wow! this is a good thread. How to answer that? I guess i would have to say, day by day. Each and every one of us, have a different tollerence level for pain. When this started for me,(i have had an herniated disk in my neck, cervical fusion) I didn't tollerate the pain very well. After the surgery, which was way too late to save my nerves, i did experience some relief. Like i said, i waited too long before seeing my Dr. I now have severe nerve damage on my right side. My right arm feels the worst. It is completely dead, and the nerves feel like they are frying all the time, its quite painful. The damage goes down my right side, right buttocks, and right leg.
If you have ever been outside too long in the cold, then come in to warm your hands, and feel that burning sensation as they warm up, well, times that by ten, and you will get an idea of my pain level.
Currently, i am taking morphine extended release tabs, 100mg tabs at two in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three at bedtime. That is seven hundred milligrams per day, with very little relief. I also take 5mg tabs of oxycodone fast relief tabs as needed for breakthru pain. These help, but they make me so tired, i hate to take them, i just want to sleep.
So, when the pain gets to be too much, i guess its better to sleep away the pain, than to try and endure it? I try to maintain an active lifestyle. I do what exercises i can. I walk as far as my leg will let me, then i sit down for a few, then walk back home. This is a day by day kind of existance. I dont know how else to do it? I hope this might be of help to someone else who is suffering with pain that cannot be helped with meds?
So, in closing, i will leave you with this, do what you can, and try to live life to its fullest, every day. Good luck to you! DennisView Thread
