AA was a life saver for me. Today I don't go to AA, because it's my personal choose. However I made that decision after attention for over 15 yrs. I would recommend AA in a heartbeat.
AA is what YOU make it, it or any other program works if you/me do the simple steps. Don't use and show up. There is anonymity and it starts with you/me. It's up to us to be respectful, not gossip, and share only our our stories.
We are there for us, the rest we leave when we leave the building. We read the material, books, and get active.
The money is used for coffee, cups, lights, and rent many items we just take for granted. Many people never give any money so theres not as much money as one might think. Than again it is overseen by a bunch of "alcoholics" so it gets frustrating at times if you get on the business end of it. Cause yes sometimes there can be "dry drunks" at an AA meeting even after 10 years.
No body is perfect, it's just one day at a time. Judging each other doesn't help any cause. A Power Greater than all of us is what the program is based on and that power is called God. I am not stating anything religious or out of line, this is mentioned in the Big Book. Also it is mentioned in most AA meetings at least once. God could mean "good orderly direction". I don't know what you experienced, sorry it sure don't sound good. Hope one day you might try another place another time. They are all different, just start and end kind of the same. But some are so loving and accepting, it's like you found home for the first time. Take care and thanks for your post.View Thread

Can you see that all us chronic pain people being stuck to a video game machine all day. LOL We would for sure have no life. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. DebView Thread
