I have chiari malformation along with a lot of other problems. Yes, definately go to the ER for breakthrough pain meds. First, you need to find a dr. that specializes in chiari or a least knows a LOT about it. It can be hard to find a dr. that knows a lot about chiari, but it is very important! You can get really messed up with a dr. that just thinks he knows about it. I did. you can go to either the wacma(world arnold chiari malformation assoc.) website or the ASAP(don't remember exactly what that stands for) for much needed info. your chiari dr. may even be able to help you with your other problems. best of luch to you!!! let me know if you need any other info. many prayers and very gentle hugs to you!View Thread
Sometimes, depending on the pain level, I watch tv to get my mind off it. if you can get totally involved in something else to take your mind off of it, that might help. heating pad might help. also, your family dr. might be able to give you something just to take the edge off until you see your pm dr.
hoping your week of hell goes by as quickly as possible!View Thread
I'm sorry you are having more bad days than good. I have been having the same experience. I agree with you that the dr.'s that say our pain is in our heads should have their license removed...they should also have to be in our shoes for a day!
Hi. I know exactly how you feel. It's a horrible feeling to be afraid that someday they may take away the only thing that helps your pain. I'm with you on that. I too have worse than migraine headaches. I'm sure you've tried this, but I take avinza everyday and morphine for break through pain. I also know someone that has the patch and it worked well for her too, it just made her "out of her head". I hope the best for you! Keep us informed about how you're doing and what your dr. puts you on.View Thread
I have been in chronic pain for 10 yrs. I have a chiari malformation (brain), fibromyalga and a whole host of other ailments and several surgeries. I sympathize and identify with all of the other posts. We are treated horribly and do not deserve it. Like someone else said, "we are kicked when we are already down." I agree with whoever said that if I was a drug addict, I would just get it off the street. That would be easier anyway. Someone said that we should get into the political aspect on drug meds. How do we do that? If I knew what to do or how to do it, I most certainly would. I see that there are enough of us that if we knew what to do, we could possibly get someone's attention. Any ideas???
