I was hurt in a freaky boating accident. I hurt my lumbar spine. I had a discectomy that helped for a while. The pain came back and I had a one level fusion. I had no pain relief from that fusion.
My pain doctor prescribed the fentanyl patch for a while. My skin was always itchy and sore. I tried cortaid cream under the patch and the patch just slid on off. OMG.
Now my pain doctor prescribed Methadone and it's okay, but I really can't function with the pain and my docs suggest a spinal cord stimulator.
I just got insurance approval for the trial on March 5. I'm happy and scared. I do know that I won't be able to have MRIs but CAT scans are okay. I hope that I can get off the Methadone to have a baby.We were only married for 13 months when I got hurt. I'd like to go back to work.
I'm a hairdresser and cosmetologist so I am on my feet for hours on end. Not a good job for someone with a bad back. It has been really tough.
Thanks for listening.

I think that the test is called EEG.
Just my opinion but I think that you should stick with your regular doctor who knows all of this. If she can't diagnose you she is sending you to other specialists so you know that she is listening to you.
So your being treated for pleurisy so that can't hurt.
I don't want you to get mad at me but maybe you could try the treatment for anxiety? Smoking is never okay but it might not be time for you to quit with all this stress in your life. Maybe talk it over with your doctor.
There is always places like Mayo Clinic where they treat or diagnose people with rare medical problems. Kind of like a hospital of Doctor Houses, LOL I love House, ok.
Eating right is always important but most Americans don't get malnutrition and you have probably had all the blood tests that would show if you had any vitamin shortages.
You have your own doctor who is taking care of you. If you like Dr. Oz then cool. If you don't (I don't like him) then please don't waste your time esp that you have a doctor who is trying to find out whats going on with you.
Lastly I don't have any medical knowlegde except my own back surgery and pain management. My husband's mother is a nurse and helps me a lot with my own medical problems.
I hope that you get well.

Hello Lotte. I'm not expert but I think that you should see a real doctor, an MD. I'm not a fan of chiropractors. Maybe he broke your rib?
I don't know what your legal services can do but first try to get better.
I hope that someone else here has better advice then I do.

A 500 dollar urine test that insurance won't pay for? There is obviously something else going on. No one else here seems to have a problem with insurance paying for urine test.

I clicked on the link to the petition and it says that there weren't enough signatures and it didn't get sent.
I did talk to my doctor last week about the DEA and asked if he is afraid of them. He said that he's not afraid because he has nothing to be afraid of. He did tell me about the rule that patients have to physically see their doctors every 3 months if you're taking Methadone, which is what I take.
I see my doctor every 3 months and he writes me 3 prescriptions with the date that I can have it filled being every month. I can get the first one filled right away, the next one is dated for a month later and the next another month after.
Do I make sense?
My thought is if anyone is afraid of the DEA and what it means to your doctor's treatment of you, ask your doctor.
I know that some states getting a good doctor and getting your meds filled is tough. Someone mentioned that if your doctor writes you a prescription and you can't get a pharmacy to fill it, or if the pharmacy doesn't have it, then your doctor should write a prescription for some other med.
I think that if your doctor is afraid of the DEA it may be because that doctor has something to be afraid about.

Hi Onehurtguy,
I am so psyched about what Butrans has done for you and I think I'm going to talk with my doctor about it.
I'm also thinking about the spinal cord stimulator. LOL to the Icy hot comment. That person always writes stupid stuff and attacks CTBet who tries to help him. I promised myself that I wouldn't even post on any thread where he is. He has told people wether or not they should have a back operation. So click on his name and you can read what he's posted. Better to not reply to the things he says like asking how much urine tests cost and well you can click on his name and read it your self. LOL Icy Hot.
CTBet wrote that one patch lasts a week? Is this right?
How big is the patch? I am so happy for you. LOL Icy hot, haha

CTBet has helped me a lot and others too. She tried to help OPal, too, then Opal trashed her?
I'm just not going to even read anything Opal writes and it'll be fine.

Blesedladyptl,
I said that about Opal saying this.I copied and pasted it.
-108 people didn't get welfare, their children may not have eaten and 4,086 people got tested. $500.00 per person = $2,043,000.00 to the drug lab that did the testing!.... It's all about the bottomline..... It's all a corporate scam.-
She said this like the welfare test was $500 dollars and I then saw that the article said that the children didn't lose their checks but someone else had would get the checks for the children.
I don't think I'm going to write on the topics that this person writes. She seems to want to fight and I don't. It looks like anyone who does gets attacked so I'll back out. I don't come to a pain board for thatView Thread

Hi CTBeth,
My doctor is suggesting the spinal cord stim for me.
I have looked at the web site that you posted and my doctor uses the St Judes eon.
I read that some people love them and others have problems and have them removed.
I think that the trial will show if I'll want it. I have your email from you posted it for Blessedladyptl. Can I email you? I have some things that I'd rather talk about in private?
Thank you for writing so much good info. I think you and the other Rn with pain are both great to have here.
I won't email until you say okay.

This sounds scary.
My first thought was gallbladder but you already have that tested.
If my cardiologist suggested a test, I'd have it. You didnt have this pain 2 years ago, right, so maybe something is changed.
It would be good, but maybe not possible if your doctor could see you while you are having this happen.
OPal disagrees with me, but I would def. have the test the cardiologist suggested. I'd also want to talk to the doctor who prescribes the blood pressure meds.
It sounds scary.
