I've been going to doctors for the past 9 months with no relief at all. Last year around 12 months ago I was boxing and something happened with my left shoulder. I couldn't rotate it properly and I was in moderate amount of pain all day long. In the past 9 months, I've received massages, been to chiropractors, MDs, and a neurologist. I've had an MRI with no negative results showing any signs of an injury that may cause any nerve pain or discomfort. I've been on several medications, had steroid packs, and a steroid shot and nothing is relieving the pain. I can turn my head to the left with about 50% mobility as turning to the right. I feel that I have a clump of muscles in my neck that is extremely tight and preventing my normal rotation. I have constant headaches (possibly migraines) that last all day long. I feel that my left shoulder is pulling away from my neck while I'm standing and it's excruciating. I don't know what type of doctor I should see next since I've wasted all this time and no one has any clue whatsoever what may be the issue. I've tried stretching, light self-massages nightly, hot/cold press. Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, etc... nothing helps mitigate the pain I'm in.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.View Thread
Thank you 77grace. I hope that you can get some type of relief from your pain eventually.
How did you come to find out that your pain is from tumors and not muscle knots? That has honestly been a worry of mine, but everyone I have seen says it's nothing to worry about and that they are muscle knots.
I do have quite a bit of muscle knots around both of my shoulders and going down the sides of my spine as well.View Thread
I have been to physical therapy for about 6-8 weeks with no positive results. Every time I go it seems to aggravate my symptoms more and it causes more pain than good.
I guess I'm at a loss as to what type of doctor to go to next. The chiropractors I have seen have been fairly useless, with most of them saying "I'm not sure what's wrong, but keep coming in and we can get you fixed up!" I'm no doctor, but how do you expect that doing the same thing as you do for most patients (adjust my spine and crack a few bones), and that will somehow help?
My neck mobility has not improved from going to a chiropractor or physical therapy. MRIs are clean as well.
Any suggestions as to what type of specialist I should attempt to see next? I don't care what I try, as long as there is something that might work. I keep getting the same results of "we're not sure" at each new doctor.View Thread
