Hi avanti88, My pain mgt. dr. has a message posted in the waiting room and it says if you are 15 or minutes late, then you will not be seen. Now, in my opinion, that is crazy. Every time I have been to their office which is every month, I wait more than 1 hr. and sometimes 3 hrs. to see my pain mgt. dr. These docs are so busy that they can't even keep up with all of their patients. That is obvious.
I would not change pain drs. because this particular one is the best one that I have ever had. So, when I go to my appointment I just expect that I will be there a long time. Sometimes I am surprised and I don't have to wait a long time, but that is rare.
Sorry, about your situation. I understand. If you have changed pain mgt. drs. then that is good. I hope all goes well for you.
I completely understand all of your frustration. My suggestion to you is that you find another pain management dr. Believe me that some of them are horrible and some of them are great. Mine is a Godsend. I just love her. She is friendly, and sure knows all about pain and procedures and medications.
She prescribes Methadone and 2 muscle relaxants for me. All of that helps me so very much.
Unfortunately, some of the pain mgt. drs. are wanting to do only interventive type of pain treatments. I have seen a few of these pain docs and I do not want a pain pump or something else that some of them do.
I am way too old now to want to any of that. I am in my very early 60's now and I can assure you that if you look real hard for a new pain mgt. dr. you probably will find one. Sometimes it depends on where you live. My husband drives me every month to see my pain mgt. dr. because I don't drive on the freeways anymore.
I hope that you can find a new dr. and get the proper treatment.
Wow, you have had a lot of procedures done and now you do not have a dr. that will prescribe you the pain meds to take by mouth. I do not know what to tell you except have you tried seeing a pain mgt. dr. that would help you?
With your degree in aerospace and more it sounds as though you are a very intelligent person. I hope that you can find a pain mgt. dr. to help you with your pain.
I have had 6 major jaw replacement surgeries with prosthesis in my face on both sides. I also have migraines and neck pain and more things that cause me pain.
I have a wonderful pain mgt. dr. and I would not trade her for another pain mgt. dr. ever. She is so kind and caring and most of all she is extremely intelligent and certainly knows what pain is all about. She has been my pain mgt. dr. now for about 2 years. Prior to that I had another dr. that was difficult and not very helpful to say the least.
Maybe if you could stop using the marijuana it would be easier to get your pain medications. I just don't have any more ideas than that one.
Wow, you sure have had a lot of tests done. They can't figure out what is causing you so much pain either. That is very strange. Have you seen a orthopedic dr.? I read your long message. I can't remember if you did. The neurologist could not find anything else going on either.
I would suggest that you find a pain mgt. dr. They are far much better in treating pain and especially when it is hard to diagnose. I don't know what state that you live in, but most pain mgt. drs. are the best way to go when you have pain and you don't know why or what is causing it.
Try and find a pain mgt. dr. and see if that helps. I have been going go a pain mgt. dr. now for many many years. Currently, I have a wonderful lady dr. that is terrific. She is from another country, but that does not matter. What matters is that she is very smart and knows pain mgt. and how to treat my problems.
I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. I would never wish that on anyone. It is true hell to be in so much pain.
Please find a pain management dr. and let us know what happens.
I have had huge problems with Walgreens. They had a new pharmacist that did not know me. When my prescription was taken there she would not fill it. I had been going to Walgreens for many, many years and could not believe that. I asked to have my scrip back and went to CVS and they filled it without any problems.
I have heard that Walgreens has been sued for 85 million dollars. If that is true, then they have some real big problems.
Hello tom_1725, I have never had what you have going on. I do think that you should see an orthopedic dr. You probably will need to have surgery from what you have said. I sure do not know for sure, but I think that seeing an orthopedic dr. is your best bet.
Good luck. I am sorry that you are in such severe pain. I have only heard what you have because Barry Manilow had the same problem and did have surgery in order to fix the problem.
I hope that you find a really great dr. that can help you.
Hi denaliguy, I am so sorry that you had a bad experience at a pain clinic. I went thru the same thing many years ago. After I had not taken any pain meds, I saw my dr. and got a scrip for some.
Not all pain clinics are good. Some of them just want to detox you off all the meds that you are taking.
Even though you are young, a responsible dr. would at least listen to your pain problems and then decide what would be of help to you. I think that you are going to have to find another pain management dr. and go see him/her once a month.
I have a women pain mgt. dr. and I have to see her once a month or else she will not prescribe my pain meds. I also have to have a drug test every month. What state do you live in?
My dr. is in Texas in the medical center. She is very understanding and kind.
Whatever you do, do not take your own life. My very best friend did that and it messed me up for a very long time. I had to see a counselor in order to get help.
Please hang in there and try and find a different dr. that you can work with.
Hi aubri222, I have been taking methadone from my pain mgt. dr. for a long time now. I do not understand why your dr. would make such a change in your meds.
Maybe you need to find a new pain mgt. dr. if that is a problem. Methadone works very well for my chronic to severe pain. At first when I started taking it I was a bit freaked out, but it works very well for me and for my pain.
I hope that you find a new pain mgt. dr. that will get you on the proper meds.
It is a real struggle for me to live with chronic pain. I do have medications and a pain mgt. dr. and other specialists that treat my different problems. Usually I spend my day in my nightgown because I do not go anywhere and spend most of my day in bed. When I get a migraine headache I take my meds for that and usually get an icepack for my head and lay down.
I don't have any friends that call me and the people that I do know rarely call or come by to see if I am OK. That disappoints me quite a lot.
I used to do volunteer work and enjoyed that very much. Even at that time I had horrific headaches that were unbearable.
At this time I have not been able to work for many, many years and I do miss the interaction between other people. I am married and my husband does most of the trips to the grocery store and the pharmacy.
I am very thankful that I have been able to have a very nice lady that cleans my house once a week. She has been working for me for about 4 yrs. now. I trust her completely. I got her name from a lady that used to take me to my dr., appts.
I guess that I deal with my pain the best that I can, but wish that I had more social activity. It is so difficult to be social when you are in pain though.
