Hi aubri222, I have been taking methadone from my pain mgt. dr. for a long time now. I do not understand why your dr. would make such a change in your meds.
Maybe you need to find a new pain mgt. dr. if that is a problem. Methadone works very well for my chronic to severe pain. At first when I started taking it I was a bit freaked out, but it works very well for me and for my pain.
I hope that you find a new pain mgt. dr. that will get you on the proper meds.
Thanks for your input. I think that is the only way to handle the problem. I have had it to my eyeballs with hearing all of the complaining but yet she will not take any meds or see a dr. to get meds to help her.
Hi nasan4173, Boy, it sounds like you got a real bad deal since your husband put the screws to you. If all of what you say is true, then I would sure contact an attorney like you mentioned. I would think that your last prescription would be filled unless they contact your pain mgt. dr. that fired you.
So sorry that happened. I was in a pain clinic for about a month many years ago and was not even taking the type of pain meds that I take these days. Those people in that pain clinic never believed that I had such severe neck and headaches and severe pain in my jaw too. I have jaw joint replacement on both sides of my face. These implants are about 6 inches long and are the cause of most of my chronic to severe pain. When I left the pain program (it was finished) I tried to not get a pain prescription but after a few weeks I had to get back on some type of narcotic pain med. The whole experience was a real waste of my time. It was my mother that found this pain clinic in Austin and pushed me so hard to go in it. Bear in mind, at the time I was in my early 40's so I sure was not a child at all. My mother was a real control freak and got my husband convinced that this would be so very helpful and then I had the 2 of them pushing me to go into the pain clinic.
I have been in more than one pain mgt. clinic and I would not recommend anyone going in unless you have all of the facts before going in. They detoxed me off of Tylenol #3 and fioricet #3 and a few other meds.
I was very ticked off at my mother for pushing me so hard to go in to this pain clinic.
I wish you good luck in this big mess that you have going on. Let us know how it turns out.
Hello murph222, I have had bouts with costochondritis and my cardiologist normally prescribes an anti-inflammatory medication like a steroid and that takes care of it. Prior to even knowing what I had when this pain hit me, I had no idea what type of dr. to see about it. I would suggest seeing your family dr. or if you have a cardiologist see him. It is treatable with the proper meds.
Hi Everyone, I have a friend that I mostly e-mail with and she has described to me many times that she is very depressed. I have suggested that she see her family dr. and try taking an anti-depressant. She says that she had a terrible experience in the past taking an anti-depressant and she will not take it.
Then on top of that she has pain from many different things. She will not take anything for that either. I hear her complaints all of the time when she e-mails me and I can't offer her anything because she does not want to take any medications at all.
What would you do with a friend like that and how would you handle the problem? I am real tired of hearing her complaints constantly but yet she will not take the meds that just might help her.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I can handle this problem?
Hi there, More than a year ago I took my prescription to the Walgreens that I had been using for about 20 years and they had a new pharmacist and she took one look at the scrip and said that she would not fill it unless she talked to my pain mgt. dr. I tried to explain that I had been filling my methadone there for a very long time and did not understand why she would not fill it.
Well, to make a long story short, I took the prescription back from her and went to CVS and they filled it without any problem. I have transferred all of my prescriptions to CVS and they have not given me any type of trouble. I do not have to sign a special paper in order to get it filled either. Walgreens started doing that about a year or so ago where I live. I have heard that Walgreens has been sued for about 85 million dollars. Somewhere they really screwed up and that is all that I know.
Thank-you. I have read many of your responses to other people that have chronic pain and you have a lot of very good ideas and suggestions.
You are so right about keeping a positive attitude and also about being thank-full for all of the good things in our lives.
I have been thinking about taking the glucosamine that you mentioned. I don't know if it has any side effects with the meds that I take. If it is a supplement, like a vitamin then I don't see any harm in taking it.
I hope that you are feeling the best that you can.
