We live in Lexington. It's a pretty big city and I am sure there are plenty of things around here we could do for him, but I have no idea what to do! The rooms in my house are too small to have a lot of people over and the backyard isn't big enough for one of those bounce houses (although I am sure my 2 1/2 year old would love it).
Mason's birthday is on May 3rd, but we are going out of town that weekend so we will have to have the party the Saturday before which will actually be April 28th. Unless I can find some kind of room to rent then I guess we will be having another birthday at the park!View Thread

We live in Kentucky and you can not depend on the weather. It is always changing. Like right now, we are having spring type weather (in the 50's) and normally it should be snowing like crazy! That's the main reason I am worried about having it at the park in May. Who knows what the weather will be like then. I don't really want to do it at one of those kid themed places either because he won't be old enough to enjoy any of it yet. That's why I have no idea where to host it!View Thread

DS2 doesn't turn 1 until May 3rd, but we plan on going on vacation in Florida that same month and I want to plan his party now. I have no idea where to really host it. With DS1 for both of his birthday parties we have just had a cookout at two different city parks. DS1's bday is in July so it's always really nice. I am afraid that the weather in May wont be very nice plus I don't really want to keep doing the same thing. My house isn't really big enough to have a lot of people over and our backyard is full of my SO's "toys" (boats, jet skis, lawn mowers...) with just a small play area.
Anyone have any ideas? I know he's just going to be one and I shouldn't make too big of a deal out of it but I still feel like he should have a special day!View Thread

I am so sorry about baby "Sam" being taken away! It must feel so awful! I couldn't imagine! Hopefully he is going to a really good home. And at least the adoption is less than a month away. It will give you a little time to kind of grieve your loss and help you prepare for a newborn. You guys will do great with a new little one. Good luck!View Thread

My name is Dawn. I have a son named Carter who will be 2 on July 22nd and I am currently 37 weeks pregnant with our second son. We are naming him Mason. My due date is May 10th, but at my last appt the Ob said he was measuring big (7 lbs 7 oz) and that she would induce me by 39 weeks.
My favorite dessert is a tie between my grandmother's homemade brownies and Breyer's Oreo icecream

My son was not quite a year old last Easter, but we still got him an Easter basket (he will be 2 in July.) We put some toys and books in it and also some baby food jars and Gerber Puffs. It wasn't a lot, but we still wanted to do something for him.
We already have his Easter basket for this year too. We re-used the basket we bought him last year. We put a few pieces of candy (some chocolate and some marshmallow), a couple Dum Dum suckers, some small books, a car, a coloring book and a small stuffed animal. We didn't use any Easter grass because it would just be too messy (and he might try to eat it!)View Thread

My 19 month old DS has been waking up very grumpy lately. He goes to bed at 8 every night and I have to wake him up at around 6:15 every morning. I usually turn his light on when I get up at 6 and I get ready and then come into his room. I walk over to his crib (most of the time he is already awake and smiling at me). I tell him good morning and pat on him a little bit. Sometimes he is a little playful and tries to scoot away from me or play with his blanket. When I do get him out of the bed and take him to the changing table that's when he starts to get grumpy. He wont lie still (that's kind of another issue lately- he doesn't want to lay there long enough for a diaper change) and he starts crying before I can even get the new diaper on. Then it's a nightmare to get his clothes and shoes on and carry him downstairs and out the door to the car.
I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and everything is getting more difficult for me to do. I don't know if it's just a stage he's going through or maybe he senses things are about to change with the new baby coming along. I don't think it's because he's not getting enough sleep because even on the weekends he only sleeps in til about 7 or so and we sometimes let him stay up about 20-30 minutes later on Friday and Saturday.
We have had the same routine now for the past year and a half and I have never had any trouble with him before. Maybe it's just because he is starting the "terrible twos"? I don't know, but every morning is so very exhausting now!View Thread

My son is 18 months old and is going through the exact same thing right now. He wont eat hardly anything. He used to love peas and now he just refuses to even look at them. What we have been doing lately, and it seems to be working, is giving him his own plate and spoon on his high chair tray. Sometimes he only plays with it, but a lot of times he is actually eating his food! He usually makes a huge mess, but it is definitely worth it if he actually eats! Hopefully, they will grow out of this stage fast!View Thread

Current age/weight? 18 months tomorrow! 30" tall and weighs 22 lbs
Clothing size? 12 mon. pants/18 mon. shirts
Shoe size? 4
Did eye color change from birth? Yes, went from blue to brown
Potty trained, when or in progress? We just bought a potty chair, so we are going to start very soon!
Crib/bed? Crib
Fun things they are saying? He says "more" or "please" whenever he wants something. Or he says "do it" whenever he wants you to do something again.
Favorite toy? Legos
What do they get in trouble for the most? Climbing or throwing things. Typical boy stuff.
Favorite food? Any kind of bread and spaghetti.
Least favorite food? Veggies.
Bath time Love or Hate? He loves it unless he's really tired.
Favorite Book? We just bought him a book called "Where Is Baby's Belly Button?" and he seems to really like it. We bought it because I am 24 weeks pregnant and he likes to lift up my shirt and poke me in the belly button and then rub my belly and say "baby". Lol. View Thread
