It sounds like your LO has an external yeast infection. I know your last post was 2 days ago, but if you're still struggling with this try lotrimin or CVS brand clotrimazole (which is the same thing, just generic). Yes it does say that its uses are for the treatment of athletes foot & ring worm, but it is also used for external yeast infections in children. My youngest DD seems to get this type of yeast infection every time new teeth start coming in. Also, if your baby is use to soy rather than milk than I would stick with the soy. Milk causes constipation & hard bowel movements in children with lactose sensitivity & that can cause fissures (little tears or cuts in rectum) which just brings painful bowel movements & occasionally blood. Sorry your LO is going through all that...it's hard to watch them in pain even when you know they will be just fine.View Thread

My sister in law actually never had that issue...well once but we just told the kid he had to go back with his mom & dad & he left. I think most (key word most) parents know that it's rude to impose like that & keep their kids at a distance. & with bounce house rentals, if the weather is bad they ge you for the don't charge you for the rental. There are a lot of parks in Kentucky, You know I was thinking do your boys like to fish? Some of the parks have fishing you can do from the shore & little rods are like $12 at Walmart. Maybe you could get a few & make a game of it. They could take turns & if they catch a fish they get a prize?...Just a thought. My girls like to fish & all my nieces & nephews, so I know it's something my family would dig. Anyway, I'll try to think of more ideas to spice up a park b-day party.View Thread

You know my sister in law actually rented a bounce house & had it delivered to the park for one of her sons b-days. I like park b-day party's. They are more fun then like a chucky cheese party or something & those cost a fortune & you only get your table for 2hrs & you're rushed through everything & then the darn mouse comes out to sing happy b-day & all the LO's cry from fear. Are you having a big or small party? like how many people are coming/invited? You can always check out sproutonline.com. They have all kinds of b-day party ideas for toddlers & party craft ideas. My LO's both love the stuff on there. We do crafts all the time, not just my 3yr old but my 1yr old gets involved too.View Thread

I love Kentucky! I want to move to Owensboro, my husband works out of there & we live an hr away in Evansville. We are from Las Vegas, so I get what orin is saying...the weather in the west is so much different though. My oldest DD's b-day is in May too. It was suppose to rain all day on her b-day last yr & we had family from all over coming! I was so worried her b-day would be a hot mess! It actually was perfect. It didn't rain at all till the evening. We rented a Dora bounce house (princess was unavailable), but they had soccer ones & boxing & all sorts. We paid a little over $100 to have it for 11hrs w/ a snow cone machine. It was a big hit. But now she turned 3yrs last yr & your LO is turning 1....hmmm....My youngest DD just turned 1yr old in Dec. so it was too cold to do anything & no one could come anyway with the holidays & all, plus they all came for my oldest b-day in May, so 2 trips here wasn't happening I guess (understandably). Honestly we just made cupcakes at the house & had a small party where she just played in her own home totally oblivious to the fact that it was her b-day until she opened her gifts. She was excited for presents, liked all her new toys, and enjoyed 2 cupcakes! Worked out just fine. I'm not too worried about "big" parties though until the kids get older. Good luck with the party planning though! I'm sure you will figure something just perfect out for your LO. I don't know what area of Kentucky you live in though, so I can't really give you ideas because I don't know whats around you.View Thread

1. I looked into having a home birth, I really wanted a water birth, but I was too concerned about the safety considering the nearest hospital was 1/2hr away & it was an absolute no for DH. So we planned to go to the hospital, but had private at home Lamaze classes and a doula.
2. We had both DD's at the hospital.
3. Our 1st born came 3wks early, so no I wasn't ready with her. Our 2nd came 5wks early, but had tried to come 2wks earlier & my labor was stopped & I was put on bed rest & told she would probably come within 2wks & she did...so with her yes.
4. With our 1st born my water broke at 4:23am & I sat in the bathroom calmly calling my non-responsive husband until I finally said "hunny my water broke." He jumped up so fast it was ridiculous & then after all the Lamaze classes we took said "what does that mean?" I was like "are you serious?!" Anyway after he freaked out the whole way to the hospital It took 12 hrs to have our 1st born & our entire family & friends coming in & out of my delivery room while I'm attempting to have an all natural birth even though I had all back labor because although she was head down she faced my tummy instead of my back so her head pushed on my spine/nerves at every contraction. Finally I gave in & got an epidural & smiled at everyone who walked in while I laid there in nothing but a sheet.
With our 2nd DD I started having contractions & went to the hospital where my labor slowly progressed, but she was so early I didn't want to stay home. So I walked the hospital tell the told me to get back in bed, they broke my water & gave me pitocin (which makes labor more painful so I got an epidural at the same time). Finally it was time for her to come out & my SIL got there just in time for me to start pushing (this time she was the only one we invited or allowed to be there) & she had the audacity to ask if she could cut the cord! & my DH actually let her (which I have mostly come to terms with, but really? Who does that?).View Thread

Is her yeast infection internal or external? My daughter had an external yeast infection & I had to put lotrimin (which is the same thing as what they prescribed her & $20 cheaper according to the pharmacist) on her for 2months. If it's external you have to continue treating it for 1-2wks after it goes away. You could always call the pharmacy & ask them if there is an over the counter version of her script. Pedialyte, Gatorade, & Powerade are all great options for diarrhea. Sometimes it takes a week or so to get them back on track. Does she have any other symptoms? Fever? Vomiting?Ect.? Is she lethargic? These are things to really watch for. If she is having those issues or if you can't clear up the diarrhea within 7 days on your own then you need to take her for sure, but if your concerned that's a good reason too. You're mommy & you know her better than anyone, trust your instincts...It usually turns out best that way. It is flu season after all. Don't worry about the details, they don't bug us. My kids have been there & so have most other peoples kids. We understand.View Thread

I'm sorry to say, but I agree with orin34. No parent wants to hear that there is something wrong or different with their kid even if it comes with the best of intentions from the closest of friends & I to hope your friend is the exception, but in honesty she probably is hurt inside that you brought this to her attention especially if she feels the behavior is well justified. If you find offense to our opinions than again sorry, but that's what you asked for...our opinions. This site isn't for any of us to judge & of course that isn't what we are trying to do, we are here to be helpful to one another in the best ways we can by offering our opinions & experiences. If they don't fit your situation that's fine, but considering we aren't there & the written word is hard to fully interpret the best we can give is what we know for our own situations. Either they help or they don',t but also either way it's never intend to be hurtful or harmful. I too feel like you misunderstood our intentions & do hope that you now understand that we truly meant no offense & only wanted to help.View Thread

Considering she isn't yours & I'm going to assume not under weight since you didn't mention anything like that, I'm going to say you should just stay out of it & try to control it while she is at your house to the best of your ability. If it becomes too much for you then decline to babysit her further. It could be learned behavior or just the child's nature or perhaps she is under feed or used to being fed & not feeding herself or doesn't get many snack through the day at home...it could be a number of things, but unless there is being harm done to the child that is causing it I would recommend not doing anything or you could cause yourself more issues than you want. You have to be careful with what you address when it comes to other peoples kids. Try to consider if it was your child & someone criticized a behavior of his that you had no control over or didn't find to be a problem & that wasn't causing him any harm or do to harm or neglect?View Thread
