I'm super cheap so before DD was born I found a 12 month costume at BRU for like $5, so I got that for her. We didn't know what gender we were having so I got her a giraffe. It worked well b/c she loves animals! This year I went to a consignment sale the other week and found a brand new lady bug costume for $8!!! When she's older I guess I'll have to buy the new in thing or whatever she's interested in but until then I plan to buy clearance ahead of time.View Thread
You know I just had a conversation similar to this with my DH. We have a quite a few friends who went to college, married a guy from college, worked maybe 2-5 years and now are SAHMs. I'm speculating that their parents paid for college b/c most have NICE houses and multiple kids, so I don't know how they could pay student loans too. I'm definitely jealous b/c I only had 9 weeks maternity leave. So in a way I think they wasted their parents money but I also have to agree with the well-rounded/experience of living on their own aspect. I just hate that people (from my church) are suprised that I work full-time. HELLO! I have student loans and a mortgage to pay.
ad1978, I too have a college "friend" who just announce the pregnancy of her third child.View Thread
Ok, I've NEVER seen this show before other than the final episode of when they all had their babies for that get together thing. Anyway, that was a little while ago and the only couple I remembered where Catelynn/Tyler b/c I just felt so bad for them but proud at the same time. So I've been reading all your comments each week and last night since there was nothing on TV I decided to see if this was on demand. It was but only last weeks episode where Amber/Gary go to FL. Let me tell you how surprised I was to find out what these "kids" really look like. You know how you read stuff and form an opinion about what they look like in your mind based on how they act. Well to me this is funny, I thought Gary was a hot attractive guy b/c you all kept saying he needs to put a shirt on but GROSS!!!! Now I know why you all kept saying that!!! Those two annoy me the most and I don't get why Catelynn/Tyler are on the show since it's called Teen Mom. Yes, they had a kid but it still doesn't make sense to me. I don't know if I'll catch anymore or not but thanks for writing about it!View Thread
My DD is 20 months and she has been getting worse at the tanturms too. I think hers have a lot to do with lack of communication, so she whines and fusses until we give her what she wants. So I've started making her sit in the corner until she calms herself down, then she has to use her words to let me know what she wants. I'm hoping it's a stage too!View Thread
Is it a must have or not? I think it's definitely easier to get a job with a degree but many people are able to get pretty good jobs without a degree.
Did you go to college? Yes, Messiah College
What's your degree in? I have a BS in Accounting
Do you use it today? Yes, I work in as a Senior Accountant for a insurance company.
How much did it cost and how did you pay for it? DH and I both went to the same college and between the two of us we had about $100,000 in loans by the end. Our college is private school so you don't get as much state help, so it costs a little more.
How about your SO? Yes, we met at college. He has his degree in Business Admin and works as a Budget Analyst at a different insurance company.
Do you want or expect your kids to go to college? We will let them choose but we are going to encourage them to go.
How will you handle the financial aspect of it? Hopefully they will work hard in HS and be able to get some scholarships. Depending on where we are finally we will help them.
Will your kids pay for it? We don't expect them to pay for it all but the majority of it they will pay for.
Will you pay for it? Not all but we will help.
Have you started saving for it? No but we need to.View Thread
My pedi said that a good time to train girls is around 22-24 months. My DD is 20 months and she just started asking about potty and we've sat her on it a few times but she doesn't get it yet. There's a book call 3 Day Potty Training by Lora Jensen, it talks about not only training but the signs to show when your child is ready.
ad1978 - LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE your response. I've been following this thread and thinking the same things you just mentioned but I didn't have the guts to say it. I plan on teaching my children about abstinence as well. DH and I were both virgins when we got married as well (he was 21 and I was 22 at the time). I think if more parents took this approach than we wouldn't have to be worrying as much about all these STDs. Anyway, just wanted to say I agree with your post 10000000%!View Thread
