At my 35 week appointment I joked that I thought my water had broken. At my 36 week appointment I go in and I'm measuring small. I laugh it off saying, I told you last week I thought my water had broken, and my Dr was serious. So I played it off again saying "Yeah...I have only gained about half as much weight as I did with DD" and she looks at me again like "Um no" and says "You measured right on last week." that was 10am.
Ok...Time to start freaking out.
She calls my perinatologist and gets me in for an u/s. He's running 3 HOURS LATE! I sit in the office for 2.5 hours. They get me in for an u/s. The nurse looks nervous and starts shaking her head. Calls the Peri in. The Peri puts that u/s on me and says "He's coming out today.....you have next to no fluid"
Totally didnt register, but I asked what they think he'll weigh and they tell me 5b 13 oz, and they tell me to go to the hospital immediately.
I go home, pack my bag, sit on the computer and chat with some of yall, and around 630 decide it's time to go to the hospital...LOL. Get everything in the car and DH drives through Houston rush hour traffic to downtown Houston. 7pm I walk in and they say "We've been waiting on you!" HAHA yeah I know.
They get me all hooked up, check out my contractions and see they are coming every 1-2 mins, but I have an irritable uterus and PTL so I was having contrax from 8 weeks. They get my bloodwork, and get everything ready for c/s #2. Got the Epi in. Gave me the meds, asked if I could still feel it.....YES!! dont cut!!!.
Can you feel it now? (more meds). YESSS!!!! WAIIIIIT!!
After the 3rd dose of meds I was finally numb and away they went. I could smell my skin burning and feel all of the tugging. I wait....and wait....and wait....and hear nothing. I askk waht's going on, and they say there's alot of scar tissue from c/s #1. Ok...wait and wait and feel them pull him out on 11/3 at 11:04 DS was born. He was silent. They took him off before I heard him cry, but his apgars were 9/9. We had to stay an extra day because they were growing cultures to make sure he didnt have an infection because my water broke so early, but recovery was a BREEZE!View Thread
Are you sure she's not saying "MMMMMMM"? DS is 19 mos and just recently started calling me "Mama", though he's been saying it for awhile. He's been saying Dada for awhile too, but when he eats, he says "mmmmmmmmm", like the food is good. Maybe it's something as innocent as that View Thread
DD wears a 2 piece because she's long waisted and to wear a 1 piece it would have to be WAY too big. 2 piece fit better. Our choice is between showing little tummy/skin or buying it too tight and having other parts possibly showing, and since she's PTd, she doesnt wear diapers, so the obvious choice is 2 piece that fits.View Thread
That's insane. That price IS round trip! My 11 hour flight is going to cost almost half as much as a 2 hour flight!? Seriously. That's insane! We flew continental if that helps any. Try travelzoo.com. they have really good deals too. Our tickets (adults) were only $600 roundtrip from Amsterdam to Houston. I guess I had a little more notice, though.
Is Southwest running any specials? They usually have $99 flights, dont they?
Money aside, I'd get a seat. You arent gonna want to hold him the whole time. DS wouldnt sit in my lap for that long if I tried! Also, with the carseat rental, they are like $13 a day. We just went and bought DD a carseat to leave down here. At $13 a day, you can buy a new one....lol. I'd bring the carseat and only check that with the clothes you need (the extra space in the bag is crazy! I had 2 backpacks, the dirty cloothes from the 2 days at the hotel, and 3 pairs of DHs shoes plus some diapers and wipes stuffed into that bag! ) All you'd have to do is bring the carseat and pack your stuff in it, then you'll have that and your LO and that's all View Thread
I'm so sorry! I'm a sufferer too. The last time I had one was when I was 35 wks pregnant with DD. I was in the hossy too, and it does seem to take awhile for the effects of things to wear off, but if you arent in too much pain, count your blessings.View Thread
We flew to the Netherlands when DS was 9 mos, and now we are flying back to the US Thursday (he's 18 mos). It's a 10 hour flight.
If your flight is that long, bring the carseat for the seat. We have CARES for DD (we have it for DS now that he's bigger) but I noticed DD didnt sleep as well as DS did and he was in his carseat.
This time I have an entire carryon of snacks. DD refused to eat the food on the plane (which was actually really good because we were in first class), so she whined and cried alot, so this time I have a bunch of snacks.
Dont go overboard on toys! I dont even think DD played with much of anything. She had some headphones so she could watch the movies, but aside from that, she had a few mini sized toys. DS had 3-4 toys too that he played with.
The flight attendants were more than willing to help us. They warmed bottles for me (I dont remember how they did it) and watched/entertained the kids while I went to the bathroom.
Most airlines have bassinets available. They are really cool. You sit in the bulkhead aisle and they hook to the front wall. Definitely ask for the bulkhead aisle, as it gives you more room to move around. They dont release these seats until 24 hrs before your flight (I asked for this flight....lol) so I'll be checking in ASAP.
Make sure you use alot of diaper cream. Sometimes you arent able to get up and change them, so make sure he/she has a good barrier layer on her bottom.View Thread
