I think it's official that DD is now potty trianed since she hasn't had any accidents in 4 days!! YAY!!!
This is how we did it with her. For a few months we've been telling her about the potty and sometimes she would ask to sit on it so we'd take her. Then starting last Monday (June 27th) we put her in underwear 100% of the time and told her no more diapers. We showed her a box of little Dollar Store toys and told her that every time she went on the potty she would get one and a sticker for her chart. Monday - no potty, lots of accidents Tuesday - potty first thing in the morning, accidents the rest of the day Wednesday - no potty Thursday - went on the potty at daycare Friday - once at daycare and then once at home Saturday was the turning point, she went first thing in the morning and went a few more times before nap. Then after nap not so well but each day she got better until Monday when she had no accidents at all. I think it helped that she was at home with us for 3 days. Oh and by Monday, she wanted Jelly Beans or M&Ms instead of a prize, so that's what we've been giving her b/c it's cheaper! ;c)
Now I don't have to buy diapers until baby comes in October!!! YAY!!!!View Thread
My story is kind of both of us but more me. This week we've been dealing with a 2 1/2 year old who doesn't listen and doesn't want to do stuff when she's told...she use to be so good!! Well last night she wasn't listening, whining during bathtime, refusing to go pee and after she went to bed I just started crying. I told DH I thought she hated me and that she doesn't like me anymore b/c she only wanted to play with him last night (normally I'd be thrilled). He had to calm me down and reassure me that all toddlers are like this and that my pregnancy hormones were just talking.View Thread
DD FINALLY went on the potty this morning!! We've been putting her in only underwear since Monday and she hasn't even tried to go to the potty. So last night DH and I decided that we weren't going to push the subject anymore but continue to put her in underwear. Well yesterday according to daycare she went pee in her pants around 3:30pm and then never went at home before bed. We were thinking that she'd definitely be wet this morning (still no diapers at night) but she was dry. I was getting kind of nervous that she'd get a UTI from holding it so I got her up earlier than normal and gave her a cup of juice. After about 20 mins, she looks at me says her belly hurts then says she has to go potty. I didn't get excited like we normally do but instead told her that daddy was in the bathroom to go in and he'd help. Next thing I hear, DH is yelling for me to come in...SHE PEED ON THE POTTY!!!!! I was so proud of her. Let's hope this is the start of good things to come!View Thread
Last night DD sang her ABCs all by herself and didn't mess up on one letter or the ending. Normally she gets so far and messes up or just starts over. We were so proud of her.
Yesterday was her first day in underwear all day. She didn't go on the potty at all, had accidents but she's so stubborn that we realized she needs to feel wet all the time before she's going to get that she has to go on the potty. Hopefully, she'll start to go soon! Sometimes she says she has to go and we take her but after a few minutes she says she's all done. She was dry this morning when she woke up, so we know she has bladder control it's just a matter of her deciding that she's going to go on the potty.View Thread
Most of the time DD is great in the store. However, when we have to go to WalMart and know we're going to be in a little longer than a regular grocery shopping trip we offer her a treat if she's good. Then during the shopping trip if she starts acting up, we'll remind her that if she isn't good then she won't be getting a special treat. We usually let her pick it out. I think it gives her something to look forward to.
We went to an amusement park last weekend and she threw the worst tantrum I've ever seen. So after sitting her in "time-out" didn't work, I threatened taking her home and that worked like a charm. So I just try to think on the fly sometimes.View Thread
We are going to my IL for the weekend. DH has his 10 year high school reunion tomorrow and then we'll just spend the rest of the evening with his family before heading home on Sunday.
Yes, let us know how the movie goes. We rented Tangled thinking DD would like to watch it. Unfortunately, it only held her attention for the first 10 minutes and then she was off playing again. DH thinks she would like Cars 2 but I don't want to pay all of that money just to leave part way through.View Thread
DD loves almost every fruit that we've given to her besides melons. Veggies is another story. Lately, we've been able to get her to eat raw carrots, cucumbers, and broccoli if we give her ranch dressing to dip it in. Cooked she'll eat carrots, corn, and broccoli but that's all. Sometimes I make a dish with mixed veggies in it (Chicken pot-pie) and if she'll let me feed it to her, I can sneak some peas/green beans in. We're starting to make her atleast try a bite of them but we honestly only eat the mixed veggies, corn, and broccoli with dinners...DH isn't a huge fan of veggies. If I had my way, we'd be eating more of them but it's a start.View Thread
We don't really let DD watch much tv, so I don't know what the ratings are. The only thing DD watches is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and every so often we'll let her watch a movie (Finding Nemo, Tangled, etc.)View Thread
