The cereal in the bottle is very old school and not healthy for the baby, with the cereal in the bottle the baby doesn't realize they are full and this could possibly lead to overeating when they are older because they don't learn to listen to their bodies. I would ssay if he is eating every 1 to 2 hours that is why he is taking so little at a time, see if you can make it every 2 and he should take more. I would definatly talk to the doctor about the cereal because most don't suggest any solids or cereal until after 4 months when their digestive systems start to mature.View Thread
mommyin2011, How often is your son eating? how many oz in total is he eating? It may be that he is eating often so doesn't need as much, if your doctor told you to do the cereal that is good if not and you are doing it to "help" him sleep I urge you to mention it to your doctor. He is very young to be eating cereal already.View Thread
3 months is too early for baby food, their digestive tract is not prepared to process food at that age. The only time you should give baby food is with the advice of your doctor.
He is probably teething, my daughter started around the same age, but remember the teeth have to come through the jaw to make it to the gums and that takes some time. The fussiness might be because you are giving him food.
Homemade baby food can be safe as long as you are following safe food handling guidelines. Also remember that babies can not take the spices that would normally be in adult food so eremember very bland for baby food.
I agree with the PP about the juice, my Doctor has recommended no juice until 2 or after if we can keep from it, there is no nutritional value in it and there is no need for them to have something so sugary, if you check with your local WIC office they also no longer provide juice for kids to try to curb childhood obesity. I am not saying that this is going to cause your child to be obese but it is something that they need to get in the habit of drinking water more often than juice.View Thread
My daughter hates them both, she makes a gagging face when I give her cereal and she is 8 months old, so I just give her baby food. She is getting better with that too. She gets more formula than anything but I am going to try the cereal again in a week or so maybe with some fruit in it to see if she will like it better.View Thread
Still try to do little bits of tummy time several times a day, my DD hated tummy time until she got a little stronger to push herself up more to be able to see things. This is essential in their development so even if it is only 2 or so minutes to start with keep working with him and building up to more and more time.View Thread
I think you need to find a new pediatrician, my daughter is 6 months now weighs 16lbs 5oz, and is 27" long, she eats 4-6oz bottles and 2 - 4oz bottles as well as one tub of baby food a day, our doctor has said nothing about her being overfed. I think your Pediatrician is just old fashioned maybe?View Thread
You should not wake up a baby to feed them, at 4 months (not far off for you) the baby should be sleeping through the night and not need to be nursed in the middle of the night. My daughter cut out the nighttime feedings herself by sleeping through them, your baby will not let themselves starve and they will let you know if they are hungry. I would say feed her right before she goes to bed and then as soon as she gets up and see if that helps you some.
My daughter is almost 7 months now and she has a bottle before she goes to sleep about 730pm and then she doesn't wake until about 630am to eat again. Stay strong, you can make it through this.
BTW, I never weaned my daughter she decided that she no longer wanted to breastfeed by refusing the breast. It made me sad but you also have to prepare yourself for that.View Thread
Ok Trying to see what anyone thinks, I can't find a place where it says this is ok or not so maybe you all know. We go to the doctor in a couple of days so I will ask there too... but do you think it is ok to give a 6 month old Mango, or Plums? There aren't any baby foods of them but I know that doesn't mean that we can't do them but don't want to hurt my LO either. Anxious to hear what everyone thinks. TIA
