My son is 9 months old and my hair is just now back to normal. I was so worried when this happened after my first pregnancy (my 9 month old is my second). It's pretty scary to see all of that hair on the floor, in the brush, in the shower... But it gets better. I promise you won't go bald! Your hair will get back to normal. I would just buy some nice shampoo and conditioner and try not to worry about it!View Thread
You have to keep with it if you want it to work. They say when you first try it you should go back in the room after 5 minutes then 10 minutes then 15... You're not supposed to say much either. It's really hard to listen to them cry, but in the end it's worth it when they start falling asleep on their own. You guys were on the right track. If she wakes up like that again on the 5th night you are just supposed to start over like your husband said.
This method worked for our now 2 1/2 year old and our 8 month old. Our oldest is usually a good sleeper until he comes home after spending the night with a grandparent. Then we kind of have to do the CIO method with him again for a couple of nights. But I have found it's the only thing that works!View Thread
It seems like I heard somewhere that carseats are only good for about 7 years. I am not sure where I heard that, but I do remember hearing that when I was pregnant with my first. My second DS uses DS1's infant carrier (they are 21 1/2 months apart), but we already bought him a new convertible carseat because he is getting too big for the infant one.View Thread
My DS turned 6 months old on the 3rd and he is still not sitting up on his own. Your son is perfectly normal. Some babies take longer than others to reach milestones. My first DS did not crawl until he was 11 months old and didn't walk until 14 months! Your DS will be sitting up in no time. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Just enjoy this time where he still wants to be held. Once he figures out how to move on his own he wont want to be held anymore!View Thread
Just wanted to let everyone know about a really good deal I have found. Apparently, Pampers are changing their packaging so all of the old boxes are being clearanced out. Huggies are also on clearance.
I work for Walmart and at my store we normally sell the boxes of Pampers for $19.96. Ours went to clearance for $16.00. I bought a few boxes with the coupons I already had. I looked inside the diaper boxes and their were also coupons in most of them.
Then my cousin called me last night when she was at Kroger and they had the same boxes for only $12.74. So I drove around to a few Krogers last night and today and found some. When I went to the register they rang up $25.49, but when I slid my Kroger card it came up for $12.74. Plus I had the coupons that were in the other boxes. So I ended up getting them for only $10.74 each! That's like paying half price!!!View Thread
My DS2 is 5 and a half months old and he got his first tooth yesterday! My DS1 didn't get his first tooth until he was over 8 months old.
We tried our first baby fruit last night- Bananas! He loved it! He still hasn't quite got the hang of eating yet though. He basically just keeps sticking out his tongue and licking it up. It's really funny to watch.View Thread
I don't think that you should give him so much juice. It's really not good for them. I would stick with the formula, cereal, fruit and veggies.
My son is 5 and a half months and he usually gets a 6 oz bottle with cereal (sometimes with a little fruit mixed in) for breakfast. He gets a half a jar of fruit and a half a jar of veggies with his bottle for lunch and for dinner. And he gets a little bit of cereal and another bottle right before bed.
This seems to be working for us. We started him on cereal when he was 4 months old (but he only eats a tiny bit-he doesn't seem to like rice cereal too much). And we just started him on fruits and veggies last week. He has not had any juice yet. We will probably wait on the juice until his eating is well established.
I hope you don't take the comment about the juice the wrong way. You really don't want to get them hooked on sugary drinks. My daycare provider told me that she is only allowed to give the kids juice once a week. My two year old doesn't even like juice. He would rather have milk or water!
No, I have never heard about the diaper rash thing. Mason didn't have a diaper rash when he got this tooth. Every baby is different though. It sounds like your son is getting ready to have some teeth really soon too!
Mason actually has a second tooth coming in right next to the first one. Everything seems to be happening so fast with him!View Thread
Which cereal are you supposed to start out with? My son is 4 1/2 months old and we started him on rice cereal last week (he still hasn't caught on yet). I was pretty sure the Dr told us to start with rice, but my mom and my aunt say you should start with oatmeal. Which one is easier for babies to eat? I thought they were the same, but I guess I was wrong. Would the type of cereal I am feeding my son affect the way he is able to eat it? I never had this problem with my now 2 year old DS. He loved it right away, but I think we started him off on oatmeal.View Thread
Saturday, my 4 1/2 month old woke up with these litte red bumps all over his body. We took him to the Dr. and he said that it was the end of a viral infection and the bumps would last a few days. He checked him over and said that he wanted to make sure it wasn't hand/foot/mouth disease. My son does have some bumps on the roof of his mouth too, but not a lot. The Dr. said there really wasn't anything we could do about it and it would clear up on it's own.
It was still kind of scary. We thought it was measles or chicken pox. He didn't act like he was hurting or anything. I wonder if this infection has anything to do with the sleeping issues we have been dealing with lately? He is still waking up about every 2 1/2 hours.View Thread
