I used to be "high maintenance" with my hair (and make up too). But since switching jobs and having kiddo, I take a back seat in the morning prep. My hair is straight, fine, but I have tons of it. It will air dry straight but kinks and the bottom....not cute. And when I air dry it, it looks glued to my head. I can't wash it every day and I hardly ever use conditioner. It weighs my hair down. I normally shower at night and just wet it slightly in the morning. Then put texturizing spray in it (it's called seasalt spray by Biolage (sp)), then blow dry until its almost dry. But it will eventually end up pulled back somehow as the day goes on. Haircuts happen 2-3x a year. On occasion I will actually take the time to blow dry and style my hair completely. Normally on the weekend when we have some sort of event. And make up gets done then too. I clean up rather well! Haha. DF is always impressed...then understands why I don't do it M-F...since I take 3x as long to leave the house. DD's hair started straight and fine like mine. Now she's starting to have DF's hair....thick, wavy (curly if he grew it long). But only in the underneath layers, top layer is still pin straight. Her hair is so outside my element!! I don't know what to do with thick wavy hair! So she gets lots of braids, ponytails, headbands, anything to pull it up and out of her face. Although she normally comes home with it down because she's taken it out at some point during the day.View Thread
This year will be our first year where Avery is inviting friends from school for her party. Normally its held at my MIL's for friends/family. They have a pool and it keeps everyone entertained no matter the age. Since this year will include 15 year olds, I don't feel that the pool party is safe.
Any other thoughts as to where this party should go? I'd like to keep it outside if possible. No point in keeping kids indoors when it's beautiful and sunny outside.View Thread
I used to work in a hospital that had a Starbucks.....in it. Damn them!! I personally don't like their coffee at all but am a fan of any of the bakery items (my favorite is the banana chocolate chip cake) and frozen coffe drinks (aka the frappuccinos!). Luckily I no longer work there so my waistline has slimmed and my wallet has fattened. Lol. Also, McDonald's makes a mean frappe.View Thread
When picking up Avery yesterday at preschool they had a handmade sign posted about 5/11 @ 3:30 for a "moms and muffins" thing. I would love to go....if I got more than a week and a half heads up! We all knew when mothers day was, it's not like it snuck up on us. I guess I'm just irritated because I would love to go and Avery will be disappointing because I can't make it. My schedule is done a month at a time so May is already set and I'd have no one to cover my patients here at the office. Grr. Guess we will have to do our own special thing some other time. I'm thinking we both need a good pedicure before I get to the point I can't see my feet View Thread
We have a black lab. He is 8 and has never "settled down." He loves attention and seems to think he's a lap dog (he's 65lbs). But he is well behaved and loves our daughter. He was our first "baby" so he has been around Avery her whole life with no problems. We are also gone 7am-6pm with no issues. Pros: well behaved tolerant affectionate can be left alone Cons: hair!! especially now that he's shedding his winter fur. We get him buzzed every spring hyper
Good luck with whatever you pick. Hopefully this one will be a better fit for your family!View Thread
Avery eats at daycare now too. 8am! Sometimes she wants breakfast before we leave the house. But typically they offer waffles/pancakes/french toast/muffins/eggs and ham/bagels....you get the idea, all carbs. Honestly we don't have time in the mornings M-F to do "real" breakfast. When kindergarten starts in the fall she will have to live with cold cereal/fresh fruit. Weekends I leave breakfast up to Avery and DF. I'll make eggs and toast/homemake pancakes or frenchtoast/hashbrowns. The whole works. We always have fresh fruit in the house, I just need to shove it under their noses! As for me, I have a single serving of either yogurt or cottage cheese, toast, and fruit (typically cantalope when in season but sometimes grapes or strawberries). Coffee when I remember to preset the coffee pot or have time to stop and get a cup....thats a treat.
Yikes that was a book! And all just for breakfast! hahaView Thread
