1. What grade is DC in? He gets a homework on Fridays and it ranges sometimes from 2 pages to 5 pages. 2. How often does DC have homework? We try to get most of it done over the weekend but if not then we do a little everynight. 3. How long does it take DC to do homework?FOREVER! 4. How much do you have to help with homework? It's been less and less lately. He's reading really well so he doesn't need me to read the instuctions to him anymore. 5. At what age do you think DC is responsible for completing homework without your help?Depends on what it is. I think when he gets into harder math and science we'll still be helping.View Thread
Way to go Lily! This type of confidence will be so beneficial to her as she gets older.
I'm a terrible public speaker. I get so nervous and my cheeks turn bright red and I speak really really fast. I should bring this up at our next parent teacher conf to see if they incorporate any speaking in front of the class for the kids.View Thread
WOW! Your list is almost identical to mine. Except make homemade pasta. Our paper work is out of control and I was going to get a hanging file system to put in our kitchen since that seems to be where all the paper seems to pile up at. I have small desk in the office/playroom but it's so unefficient. I've been waiting for DH to make me a corner desk so I have lots of space and I'm going to put a small filing cabinet under that. And we've really been doing better parenting this weekend, we are using the same techniques that you posted.
Good luck!! Hope you accomplish all your goals View Thread
DH and I had serious conversation the other night about this. Our parenting has been slipping lately. We've been yelling alot more and saying no constantly, and we wonder why our kids are always telling us no when we ask them to do stuff.
We are really working on using alternative words instead of no. Plus we need to stick to what we say. DH is the worst, he keeps saying "I'm gonna do XYZ" if you don't behave and he never follows through.
The hardest part is the listening. DS has to be told something 6 or 7 times before he listens and by the time it gets to that point we are yelling.View Thread
Last night Ryder was just acting up and being relentless in antagonizing his sister. DH sent him to his room at around 6:30 b/c it was just getting too much. He started crying and told us we were the worst parents and he wanted new parents. Ugh...makes you feel terrible.
He had something similar to me the other day. I yelled at him and he says "Timothy Greens mom never yells at him, I want her for my mom". He is referring to the movie "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" which he loves. I apologized for yelling and it just made me feel so guilty. Geesh, and he's only 7.View Thread
It's been consistent the past 3 nights with his "night terrors". I'll have to google this term again and see what it says. I think I looked it up years ago. This time it's maybe an hour after he falls asleep and then once I get him back to bed he stays asleep the rest of the night.View Thread
