I feel like such a bad parent right now. I have a little guy is who 4 years old and is giving me such a hard time potty training. Now he is stightly delayed so he did start late but you would think by now I would not be having this problem. We are constantly asking him if he need to go and he tells us no. We will after a while just put him on the potty and make him go. I know some people say that is not what you should do because it takes the control of the situation from them. We have done the praise and treat thing. We have even taken toys away from him, (but that doesn't even faze him). We have tried to whole thing of putting him in just underwear and see what happens and he does not seem to mind if he is wet. I really need some suggestions on what I am doing wrong. There are some days that he is really interested and good and others he just does not care. I am going crazy trying to figure out what it is I am doing wrong with him. Please Help Me. Thank you.View Thread
This board seems to be one of the more active boards on here so I thought I would ask you ladies (or gentlemen) for advise.
I have 2 wonderful DS's (6 and 3) and my DH and I have not decided on whether we want another one or not. So here is my situation. I am going to be 35 this year. Now I know that is not old by any means but I know they say having them after that age you run with higher risks. With my 1st DS, I had back problem through out the pregnancy. With my 2nd vericose veins. I do have existing back problem combined with being overweight which would make me run with I higher risk as well. I am a stay at home mom, so we only have one income. It is okay we get by but we don't save as much as DH would like to be saving. So here is my thing. We have said years ago that it we wanted 3, but now any time I bring it up and tell DH we need to talk about it, he says okay but then we never talk about it. I am having a hard time figuring out if he wants another one or not. Also, this past weekend I got to hold a 3 month old and I was not overcome with that feeling of I want another one. So now I don't know if I really want another one. I mean don't get me wrong I would love the child just as much as my other 2 but with my other ones I had that feeling. So I guess I would just like to have your thoughts about what you would do if you were in my position. Thank you and have a nice day.View Thread
My DS is in 1st grade and I received a letter from the teacher about what they are going to be doing for Halloween this year. I guess she and all the other 1st grade teachers decided to do a theme for the day and the kids are suppose to come dressed as that theme. They picked out story book legends, ex: the 3 little pick, little miss muffet, and pointed out at the end of the letter that although spongebob is in books he is not a story book legend. So basically I have to buy 2 costumes for my kid. I am over reacting or is this just stupid. Halloween is suppose to be fun for the kids. Letting them pick out their costumes is one of the joys of being a kid. In my house we have been talking about it for a few weeks now. The teacher said we can do home made costumes but how many 6 years olds are going to understand why they can't wear their costume to school when their brothers or sisters can. Any thoughts would be great even if it means telling me that I am over reacting. Thought on costumes to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in an advance.View Thread
I have 2 boys, ages 2 and 5 so finding something they agree upon is hard at times. Our tv seems to only have 3 channels if you know what I mean, Disney, Nick or Cartoon Network. Jake and the Neverland Pirates is a big hit in our house. So is Team Umizoomi. Dora, Diego and The Backyardians are still okay. Pretty much any thing Disney too. They shows that I do not tolerate is Yo Gabba Gabba and The Fresh Beat Band. Luckily enough they don't ask for them. I could kill my DH for turning them on to The Super Mario Bros Cartoon from the late 80's, (it's on netflix). Now I get asked to watch that at night, oh the joy. PBS we use to watch but some of the shows seem dated and my kids don't like them as much. Luckily for me I tune out the tv so if they are watching some thing annoying I don't mind.
As for the laundry, mine will only wash it if I have not and he needs clean work clothes other wise it is all me. I don't think he has done laundry in almost 6 months and that was because I was to sick to get out of bed. I can't complain though I am a SAHM so just one of the many things I take responsibility for to have the luxury of being with my boys all day.View Thread
Thanks. I am waiting to see what the Dr thinks because both times he went in to be seen where they finally decided to treat him for the tonsillitis, he saw the nurse. My only concern is that he snores as well. He had surgery last summer before starting school, I would hate to do it to him again this year. But I would rather they do it if he needs it because you can tell he is in pain when he has it. And don't even get me started on what the inside of his mouth looks like. Thanks again.View Thread
My DS will soon be 6 and in the last 4 months he has had tonsillitis 2 times. I was wondering if any of you have had experience with this and how long did the Dr. let it go before considering getting them removed. I saw on the internet that rule of thumb is 5 - 6 times in 1 year but that seems like a lot to me. Here is the funny part both times he has been said to have it, he tests negative for strep. At one point they even tested him for Mono, that was negative also. Any thoughts or words of advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day.View Thread
