Thanks. I'm hoping it will be a good change. He has picked out his lunch bag, a new backpack and a nap mat. We're going to bring them over this week to set them up so it's all ready when he goes in on Monday.
I am now on the email list for the center. Today's was about the illnesses going around the center (flu, RSV, strep and pneumonia) - I feel like he's jumping straight into the germ factory!View Thread
I was planning to wait until fall to put DS in preschool - he's 4, but misses the cutoff for kindergarten this year. However, he's the only older child left at his home daycare and he's bored with all the new babies who have started. So, we're starting him next Monday.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make the transition easier? He'd been going to the same home daycare since he was 3 months old, so this is the first big transition. He seems excited, but I'm not sure how he'll be when I actually leave that day. We've visited a few times to get him accustomed to the place, but I'm still nervous. Thoughts?View Thread
Ok, I'm feeling the need to vent, too. DS, DH and I went out for our usual Friday dinner out at our usual restaurant. We got there and were seated at a table - next to a family of 5 with two kids who looked to be under the age of two who proceeded to scream their head off for the remainder of their dinner. They left about 10 minutes after we got there. According to the waitress, the kids screamed non- stop since they got there and the parents ignored it for over a half hour.
Now, we've take DS to restaurants on Friday night since he was about 6 months old. He's restaurant-trained and very well behaved. But when he was little, I can remember him having one fussy night. After a few minutes of trying to calm him and being unable to do so, one of us left with DS while the other had dinner packed up to go. We didn't want to ruin the evening out for anyone else trying to enjoy their dinner....why are some people clueless about this etiquette?View Thread
We've decided to move DS to preschool. I was trying to wait until fall since he misses the cutoff for Kindergarten by 26 days this year so I planned to do preschool instead. Problem is all of the 'big kids' have moved on at his home day care and are only there a few days a week. And he's bored with all the new babies. So, he'll start preschool in February. He's pretty excited.
Work is insane and I'm not getting to any of the house cleaning. I finally talked DH into a cleaning company coming every other week...now I just need to find someone to hire! In my spare time.....View Thread
I've got one. DS spent the day with my dad. Apparently at some point he had a potty issue (something about the position of the pants while on the toilet) and his pants were soaked. The only other pair of pants at my parent's house belonged to my 7 year old nephew and were 2 sizes too big for DS. When I picked him up, DS was so proud to show me his pants with his belt - the dog collar for my parent's yellow lab. My dad is inventive, I'll give him that.View Thread
Like most people on this board, we'll be working on recuperating this weekend. DS had a cold over Christmas, I was sick over New Years and now it looks like it's back to DS - he came home early from daycare yesterday with a fever. He's home today with DH. Looks like another low-key weekend for us.View Thread
Did everyone have a successful holiday? What was the favorite toy?
We survived the crazy run around on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. DS had a cold, but he toughed it out. He was horribly spoiled, but the one gift he keeps going back to is the Imaginext Castle he got from Santa.
I'm now trying to decide when we stop the watching the holiday specials and delete them from the DVR. He would watch them year round if we let him, but quite frankly, I'm sick of most of them by now!
With DS being only 4 years old, I have not and will not talk about it with him. Too many parents are having this difficult conversation with their kids over the last few days and having to tear away a little of their innocence. I'm keeping him away from any news or talk of the events and am hoping like crazy that he doesn't hear about it from elsewhere. I wish I didn't have to hear about it, never mind a 4 year old.View Thread
