I 2nd finding a good shoe. I have always replaced my running shoes every 6 months; but typically just picked up the latest and greatest for $50 or less at Dicks.
My knees and feet always hurt. But I'd complain to DH and forget it. He bought me a gift card for a local runner's shop for my birthday. Their shoes and gear are overpriced IMO, BUT I went and had an expert actually fit me for my running shoes. I had to end my love affair with Nike (they are actually horrible runners shoes from all accounts) and go with Brooks. It has made such a difference in my running! No pain!
Now 6 months later I plan on buying the same pair from 6pm or something like that hopefully at a discount.View Thread
We have a plethora of volunteer activities. Of course there are always some families that do more than others.
We just wrapped up our Innisbrook drive. We sold (I bought) a bunch of wrapping paper and nice candies. This is my least favorite drive.
We are having our annual Oktoberfest this weekend. It is a festival on the school/church grounds. We have 10 big tops filled with games, music, poker, beer and food! I cannot wait!
We also do a Big Blue Fling in March. This is held at a nicer local restaurant with everyone in coctail attire. Tickets are pricey and limited. It always sells out. They have food, drinks, as well as a live and silent auction.
The 8th grade does numerous other fund raisers to fund their 8th grade trip. There are numerous 'out of uniform' days throughout the year which require $1 donation to the 8th grade trip. So far they've also hit us up for the Tervis mugs with our school logo and mums.
Then there are various opportunities to volunteer in the classroom. I've signed up for field trips and parties.
I'm exhausted now! But because our school is private with no state funding, the parents really do give the support they can in addition to the tuition. Our school is awesome!View Thread
[Trigger] Thought I'd post mine separate...I have a hard week. It is REALLY getting to me.
ME: As most of you know I'm the business manager, controller, operations, do it all person at a large church. Tomorrow we are hosting the funeral for a 2yo that died at a TX military base as a result of her mother's neglect/abuse. The child had an older and a younger sibling that were hospitalized. The mom is in custody. The father was deployed overseas; not sure if he's back. The grandmother used to be a parishioner here but has since moved away. She feels a strong sense of community here and has requested the funeral be held here.
My Mia is 2yo. I'm really struggling and not so sure I won't be 'sick' tomorrow.
KIDS: Ava has their first Daisy meeting today. Ava starts back with her piano lessons tomorrow after the summer break. Wil has soccer practice tomorrow evening.View Thread
Thanks everyone!! She had a great day. We are on vacation in FL. Had a nice dinner last night at Reggae J's. Ava got a Piece of chocolate cake that she shared with her brother and sister. We stopped in one of the pier shops and picked out a cute charm bracelet.
Yes it was also Steph's birthday. Happy birthday Steph!!View Thread
