Well, it's nothing fun or inventive, but it has worked. Each night we go through the list and have her write them out. Boring, I know. She likes it a little more, though, because we let her write the words in a special notebook/diary type thing.
Our school doesn't actually do spelling tests. We still have a list of spelling words every week, though. The kids are just expected to know and spell the words correctly in their usual writing.View Thread
We usually eat dinner around 5:30. Bedtime has been pushed back until 8:00 since they are getting older. They eat lunch (or rather, are SERVED lunch, whether they eat it or not is another story) between 11:15 and 11:45. When they get home from school at 3:30, they usually get Nesquick mixed in with milk and Miralax. Since we are struggling with getting them to eat a decent lunch, I'm probably going to start a vitamin at snack time, too.View Thread
What changes did they make to your math program? Our school teaches the "new" math. I was wondering if yours was similar....
Yesterday we met teachers and dropped off supplies. They are at their first day now. I'm counting down the hours until they get home. It was the first time they are riding the bus to/from school, so I'm curious to know how that went, too.
Is your school teaching cursive? When do you switch to letter grades? Emily is going into 3rd this year, and she will learn cursive, and start violin. She is so excited about those 2 things. This will be the first year she will start getting letter grades, too. Before it was numbers to just assess if they knew the concept or not.View Thread
(I know I replied to this post already. Sorry if it shows up twice!)
I can't believe school is about ready to start, either. We only have 1 week of vacation left. The girls already met their teachers and class the last day of school. We go Monday the 12th to drop off school supplies and find their desks. Tuesday the 13th if the official first day. Both of my "babies" will be gone all day long now!!!!
We have all of the supplies bought, and the first day of school outfits picked out. Now we are just trying to cram all of the summer homework into the last week.View Thread
