Not sure if I believe in old wive's tales or not, but we have two little boys and I really want to try for a girl! I am still on the fence about having a third because I think it will probably be another boy and I don't know if I can handle 3 boys! Lol. My SO has been talking a lot lately about wanting another baby. We had agreed to try again when our oldest is in school and we don't have to pay for daycare for him anymore. He will be 4 next month so he starts school in a year. Our youngest just turned 2.
Has anyone tried any old wives tales and had them work for a girl? I'm really curious. Like I said, I'm not sure if I believe or not but it's sure worth a try!View Thread
I think you should definitely tell your dad. He needs to know what all is going on with his family and not be kept in the dark. Your sister needs lots of help and support. Your dad may be just what your sister needs to help her turn her life around. Your step mom will probably be upset with you for a little while, but I am sure she will eventually get over it and be thankful that the burden of taking care of your sister isn't entirely on her shoulders anymore.View Thread
Whenever my 15 month old gets upset or when you tell him no he will bite whatever is in front of him- i.e. toys, chair, himself, his brother... I know it's because he can't communicate his feelings- but how do I get him to stop? I try telling him no and telling him "ouch" but it doesn't seem to help. He isn't saying many words yet (mostly just hi and bye). Over the weekend he managed to bite his brother twice and me once. He didn't draw any blood, but it did leave some nasty bruises. And this morning I found out that he bit a little boy on the cheek because he wanted his truck. I just don't know what to do. And please don't tell me to bite him back because I can't do that! I have tried timeouts, but I don't think he really connects the two yet. Any other advice?View Thread
We want to get a dog for the kids. We found 2 Chocolate Labs on Petfinder.com and we went and got them yesterday. They are really sweet, but we think we're going to have to take them back though. They were born in January and are already huge! They already weigh over 60 pounds and will continue to grow. If they could knock us over when just playing, I can only imagine what they would do to our babies! The kids weren't home last night (they spent the night with their grandparents) so they haven't seen them yet.
Can any of you guys reccommend a good kid friendly pet that doesn't bark a lot? We don't really want a small dog- I guess maybe a medium sized one?View Thread
DS2 was born May 3rd. The following month my Dr put me on the mini pill. (I had taken this for about a year after DS1 was born and always had a regular period with it). Sometimes I would forget to take it so in August I went and got the depo shot. I didn't have a period at all with it. It made me gain like 10 pounds so when it came time to get the second shot I just switched to the Yaz pill (in Nov). I had 1 period at the very beginning when I started taking it and then I had another one 2 weeks later. The Yaz pill made me very moody. So in Dec I switched back to the mini pill (I should've never switched to begin with!). I have not had a period with the mini pill at all this time. The last period I had was the 2 that I had in Nov.
I know that it's normal to not have a period sometimes while you're on bc, but I took the mini pill for a whole year and always had a normal period right on schedule. I still get cramping ever so often but no bleeding at all. I have taken several pregnancy tests within the last couple of months so I know that's not it. I spoke with a nurse at the dr office and she didn't seem concerned. She thought it was normal. I already have an appt scheduled in June for my yearly exam. I wonder if I should just wait it out until then or if I should make an appt sooner?View Thread
I asked about you a couple of weeks ago and somebody told me you had a blog. I read it the one time but I keep forgetting to go back and check for updates! I am so excited for you guys! And baby Anthony is so cute!
I also wanted to update you on my friends I was telling you about that just became foster parents a year and a half ago and were placed with newborn triplets. The triplets turned 1 on January 12th and had a very fun Mickey/Minnie Mouse themed birthday party. My friends have been in the process of adopting the triplets and they just told me that on Valentine's Day they go to court to finally have the biological parents' rights taken away for good!View Thread
We make reading part of our bedtime routine. We have a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old. Every night our oldest picks out 2-3 books and they both sit on my lap while I read them. DS1 loves books and I think his little brother is going to be just like him!
Yesterday I had to take DS1 to the doctor because of an ear infection. He cried the whole time in the waiting room. Once we got to the back to see the Dr I asked DS if he wanted me to read one of their books and he said yes. Once I started reading it calmed him right down! The book actually made him feel a little better!View Thread
I have two boys ages 2 1/2 and 8 months. They are 21 1/2 months apart. When I was pregnant with my second son we just got the books about being a big brother and read those to him. We would tell him that there was a baby in my tummy and he would kiss it, but he was still too young to understand.
You could buy a doll and show your son how you will be holding a new baby and how he is supposed to gently touch him and kiss him.
He will definitely have some jealous issues when you first bring the baby home. I suggest you schedule some one on one time with him. It will get really hard at the end of your pregnancy because you won't be able to lift him and you just wont have the nergy to play a lot. But you definitely need to have some alone time with him before and after the new baby comes. He will need it- and really you will too!View Thread
