My daughter has been a bedwetter most her life. I was too so I didn't worry overmuch. When she hit 7, we attempted the alarm method. She slept through it. So we revisited it again when she said she was ready, at 10. Problem was the alarm went off if she sweat too, and she's a night-sweater. Tried a different alarm - the urine crystallizes on the sensor & goes off without warning.
Fast forward to 12 - she started her period, quit bedwetting.
Until she gets a cold or virus. If she's super tired...she wets. Well, she had a bladder infection so she was urinating a lot...then she got a head cold the following week. So she did wet somewhat regularly. It's a week later, infection & virus is gone - she's still wetting. It's like she fell into old habits or something. She was dry for TWO yrs!
So this issue is bigger than what we thought & I don't know what to do. Is there an alarm out there that works better than others? Should I consider a sleep study?
She's 14 and angry and embarassed. I feel very bad for her - I thought she'd grown out of it.
