Here's where I stand... I'm an American, period. I don't buy into subdividing our citizens into groups. To me, that's polarizing citizens along racial lines and smacks of racism. My kid is 1/2 Filipino, 1/4 Colombian, and 1/4 white. He also has mestizo, Irish, English, Spanish (Spain) and a host of other ethnicities running through his veins... but I digress. My kid is 100% U.S. citizen. I want him to be viewed as an individual and not as a racial quota or statistic. I want him to earn his way in life and not be favored over another human because of his ethnicity. It angers me to no end when I see his school forms changed to reflect 'Hispanic' when I specifically refused to submit his racial background. Who the heck are they to go against my wishes to refuse to categorize my child? Damned racists!View Thread
