My cats dont have to go the kennel, because my son will come once a day to feed them and change the litter. That takes a huge load of my mind, I was sick about them going to the kennel. Its funny when people dont communicate, I thought that they wanted me to put the cats in a kennel (he and his wife), but he didnt want me to spend money on a kennel and he said that cats would be in their own environment and not confined, thats 100% better. I asked him if he can stay awhile when he comes over with my granddaughter whos 4. I dont know, the cats go and hide whenever they come visit so, its mute unles he wants to coax them under the bed. They are not the most "sociable" cats. But when I am alone, boy oh boy, they want my attention all the time and especiially in the morning before 6 am one of them will start the yowling until I get up. They have their food bowls full but they want me to get up.
They will miss me terribly I fear and cry looking for me. I know this because when I took a trip before, the lady downstairs reported to me that the cats cried every night, and she heard them. I couldnt help that. That was another place. But I have the solace that my son will come by once a day to feed and change the litter. Thats all I could ask and I have the biggest load off my shoulders that I dont have to bring them to kennel...thankfully.

Please forgive me for this long post.... and not caring too much about kennels (cages) at all for my 2 cats. I always spoiled them and the only time I was away was ..one trip i went to my sister in Chgo. I left them for 3 days at home but my son came over and fed them and change litter. This time I am flying across 4 states and for 7 days and too long for them to stay at home. My son and wife won't take them to their house, his wife never liked the cats from the first time. My granddaughter who's 4 comes over with her dad to play with the cats.
So, I am going to visit my mom and sister in Florida over Christmas which I should be tickled pink because I haven't seen her since last year when they came to Chgo at Christmas. I took a train to my sisters and we had a nice visit with everyone.
I never wanted to board my cats, I dont have any friends to take them and i live in a quiet residential area. Anyway, I wanted to get any feedback about kennels and how do cats fare in them when their owners board them there. Do they have any withdrawal symptoms when they come out of the kennels..?? My cats are with me all the time, only me 24/7. I just want someone to say everything will be fine an d not to worry.

Don't you hate it when non pet people tell you that you dont anything or go anywhere cause of your pets. Hold onto your hats, this is a long story. My sister who lives 4 hours away by car and...by train...2 1/2 trip, and since I dont drive I have to take a train. I went there over Christmas and left my cats home but the plans were already made and my son lives 5 miles and he came once a day to feed them and change the litter. I still was torn leaving them home and I almost cried every night knowing they were alone. The reason I went cause my mom and sister from Florida flew there also and i had a chance to see them. When I came home the lady downstaiirs told me the cats cried every night and were running around ...what can i do about that.
Since that time, my sister asked me to go up there, once in may, cause my other sister from california was going to vist her and I flat out said no.,.I am not leaving the cats alone. I had to hear all the rantings that sisters do. Now, we dont talk hardly untill something comes up and sure enough she emailed me and said my sis from Calif is coming in mid July to see her grandson again and the other sister will ask me again if I can make the trip I am crinching cause I know everybody would get on my back. I dont think I skate on this one, even my son will advise that I shouild really go. He will offer to check on them to get their food for a few days. If I dont go... for sure they will say I am putting my cats before my family. How are your feelings about this...??.

OK...hold on your hats cause this may take a while to explain. I have 2 male cats...Boo (all black) and Tiger (orange tabby). They are about 8 months now and I never left them except once except one time when I went to my sisters whos lives in Chgo. I had plans already for Christmas and I got the kitties from my son who initially adopted them for my granddaughter who turned out allergic to them. He then called me and asked me if I could take them. At first I wasnt going to take them because of I heard these apartments are not supposed to have pets (thats another story). So I gave in because I love pets and he brought them over and of course I fell in love with them. My mom and sister from Florida flew in and we all went to my other sisters in Chgo for Christmas. I had to leave the kittens at home but my son came once a day to feed them and clean the litter. I felt so bad leaving them at home.
So this upcoming Christmas my mom and sister in Florida want me to visit with them for about 5 days. By the way, the lady downstairs told me when I came home that she heard the cats crying every night 5 nights and running all the time. So, I decided this time to bring them somewhere....but where.??. I only brought them to the Vets...one time, because I dont drive at all, my son drove me and the cats to the vet he knows. I dont know anything "boarding" at Vet. I don't have any friends to ask....seriously... I keep to myself. The thought of my cats confine to any "cages" it seems so cruel. My son certainly cant take the cats because of my granddaughter's allergies. I dont know ANY one around me to trust to come to my house to watch them. I am asking some kind of advise of where I can do with my cats when I go on vacation as far as the best place that they can have free time and play with other cats, and they wont be restricted. Thank you.

I didnt experience that myself but my sister had a Saint Bernard that she had for over 10 years. Her name was Brandy. She was such a joy for her and her husband and was playful as ever and the family loved her too, especially me because I loved animals. She developed muscular and stiffness in joints where she couldn't even walk sometimes. We would walk her and at the end she would walk very slow and we had to hoist her hind legs up the two steps up to the house. She developed other symptoms and my sister knew it was that time and it was sad time for everyone. She mourned over her Brandy but time heals and so will you get over yours in time.View Thread

I have 2 male cats and I don't drive to take them to the groomers. I do have the special tool to clip their claws but dangit....I thought I was fairly strong but I can not get hold of them to try to clip their claws....which incidentally, I am getting thru bandages like crazy cause their claws are getting long. When we play, Im probablya glutten for punishment cause either I in the wrong time and tease them in a playful way and I get scratched one way or another. Is there a certain way to clip their claws so I wont like scratching post...lol.

I care about my possessions also, so the option of somebody coming in my place is not a option..

Dont beat yourself up about this. You did the right thing. Judging the way your dog acted the last days, it was the humane thing. The poor thing was in pain, the way the he looked at your eyes...he was trying to talk to you. Dont think one more day about the "should ofs" cause that will drive you crazy. We all have said that in our life times...believe me....Ive been there so many times. Said that the same thing....should i..??. You can go back....only forward. You have fond memories and please remember the good times.

I hope I can get a clear answer about how much wet food to give to 3 and 4 month kittens. They have their dry food at all time in their respective bowls and they have the dispenser one gallon water container all the time. They seem they always hungry. I am getting mixed messages from people how to feed and how much wet food kittens should get. My son....who's not a specialist by no means.. he wants me to save money told me that they should only need 1/2 of a can of a big can....for both of them...for the whole day. Is this true...??
Whenever I go to the kitchen they are following me as if they are hungry all the time. They have their treats, which I give them at night. As I said, their bowls with dry food and the water at their disposal all the time. Why are they wanting for more food. Should they need more than 1/2 can of wet food like my son said. Then I look at the labels on the cat foods that I was shocked when it said.. you should feed kittens 1-2 cans a day... What is the right amount for kittens..??....their names is Boo..all black weighs 5 lbs and Tiger...orange tabby.. weighs 4 lbs.. their adorable. I don't want to overfeed them nor underfeed either. Please advise.
