guess that's actually a good thing. Anyways, I've posted before talking about my one male cat, Stratego. He's roughly a little more than 9 or 10 lbs, heavy as in stocky and big, not fat (he's 2). I have two others, a brindle looking calico (she has one white spot on her tummy) Motor Boat, who is 7 and a small, lithe little female tuxedo cat named Random.
Anyways, when we first brought home 'Tego as a six month he and Motor would play/fight all the time. (the fourth not mentioned was still around then but Misty didn't care anything about him.. and she's not here now)
Now whenever Tego goes near Motor (and it started happening around when he was turning 1) she'll hiss and growl at him and run away. Tego, being Tego, will chase her.
Our youngest cat, that we happened to achieve, is around 1ish maybe... she and Tego play fight all of the time even though Random is much smaller that Tego and she is also smaller than Motor.
My main question is why would two cats that were getting along very, very (almost sleeping together, licking each other, etc) well to all of a sudden start becoming hardly even 'housemates'. ? And my second question is how to get Tego to stop terrorizing Motor?
thanks!View Thread

Motor and Misty were what everyone says to wait until about six months of age, Misty (passed) was about that when we got her, Motor was a little thing, abandoned at a daycare at only about 4 weeks (If I remember correctly) so we had to wait for her.
The two others we have: Stratego was probably about four months, maybe five (?) because we wanted to be sure to get him taken care of before he could even think about spraying or anything else.
And poor little Random still needs to be taken care of (money problems.. and yes we are aware of our options) I'm not entirely sure exactly how old she is, and she doesn't seem to be showing signs of going into heat (overly loving, yowling, liking the base of her tail scratched more than normal, etc) but I think she's getting really close, she may be closer to a year than not.View Thread

I just stumbled upon this, which may help me out actually. I was thinking about something earlier today about the different treats made or cats and dogs.
I have one cat inpeticular ( a two year old large -- not fat, stocky and big bodied -- tuxedo cat) who absolutely is in love with peanut butter. I know they make peanut butter treats for dogs (along with other treats I absolutely know Stratego would go chewing through the packages to get through). But I have yet to find any cat treats other than the norm: catnip, chicken, fish, etc, etc, etc.
My question if anyone knows would it hurt him, (or any cats for that matter) to give him the pb dog treats? I'd only use the 'organic' ones that have nothing but 'real' food in them and I wouldn't use any of the treats wrapped up in rawhide or any hard covering.
thanks.View Thread

.... but *GASP* I love my cats but not for 30 dollar cat treats. I did notice that the ingredients listed on those were very much identical to the ingredients I have seen listed on the organic dog treats with pb.
thanks again.View Thread

Wish I'd seen this a couple weeks ago.
On the 6th of this month we had to put down one of my cats. (I had four, now we're back down to three).
Grey Mist (Misty). She was about 11 or 12 years old a beautiful medium hair with (of course) grey fur except on her chest, belly and between her legs. She also had small dots of white on a couple toes.
We adopted Misty from my Aunt's house about a year after our Manx died. Misty was the product of a sister/brother thing where my aunt didn't even know Misty's mom was pregnant with Misty until Sissy tried to have her kitten on my uncle's lap.
Misty learned a lot of tricks, she knew them better than I did sometimes. I taught her to 'paw' (shake), lay down, sit, and had sort of taught her to wave. She would also play 'fetch'. Back home in NC we have those milk jugs with flip off lids and we would play fetch with Misty with her 'frisbees'. Her absolute favorite game.
We put her to sleep two weeks ago when she had a really hard time breathing, sounded like she was choking or gagging on something. She'd had problems before but normally we would be able to pet it out or rub her throat but nothing worked.
I know she's better now... I just hope we did the right thing....View Thread
