We plan on going back what we were using prior to this (K-9 Advantix) but are wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what did you do to help calm your dog down?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.View Thread

My questions are: 1. Can you think of anything else besides an acidic stomach and/or gas that would cause the gurgling; and 2. How often can I give him the Pepcid AC..,,,my vet said I could give it to him twice a day as needed but never said how many hours I needed to wait in between doses. What would be your suggestion?
Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to my discussion questions. Take care & thanks again.

I appreciate your assistance and the thought you put into your response.
I think at this point I will just check with my Veterinarian to make sure that it is ok for him to have more of the properties that are in the yogurt.
Thank you all again or your help.

As I mentioned in my post, we had already made up our minds to NEVER apply VECTRA 3D again to our little guy! We felt so helpless. And, it being a holiday weekend, made it even worse since our vet wasn't opened of course. We kept a very close eye on him and if he had gotten any worse, we would have taken him to the Emergency Vet Hospital we have here but fortunately as the day worn on, the restlessness and anxiety wore off slowly. I might add that he had very soft stools as well. And the next day the poor little guy was exhausted; probably from being so hyper the day before. He is doing fine now thankfully!
Our veterinarian has been alerted to the problem and I assume they will report it since this is the first flea & tick season that they have used that product. However, I believe most of their patients use preventatives year-round, as does our Harley!
Again, thank you for your response Dr. Ernie!! I truly appreciate your time. Best wishes to you!

A week ago tomorrow, he went a whole day without eating or drinking anything but grass! He's been having bouts this summer with Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome so we have been feeding him Metamucil with his meals. He slowly became very sick and tired of the gooey Metamucil in his food so we switched to plain pumpkin exactly one week ago today. The very next day is when he went all day without eating or drinking anything but grass. In the past, any time he has eaten grass we have given him 5 mg of Pepcid AC (per our vet) and within 20 minutes or so he was fine and was eating and drinking. NOT SO THIS TIME! He did however, have a normal bowel movement in the morning.
So we called his vet and she wanted us to bring him right in. She ran blood work (particularly to check for pancreatitis and dehydration) - both came back negative. Phew! After a complete exam her suggestion was to continue with the pumpkin twice a day, and to continue the Pepcid as well. Also, we have been doing a change of dry foods so we were to continue that.
Later that evening he was feeling much better after having another Pepcid and a small meal. He did well with the food change for a couple days (cleaning his bowl many times) but then we were hit with a heat wave. We are now on our 4th day over 95 degrees which is unusual for us in August. He is drinking well. But not really eating well. Especially not the dry. We feed him boiled chicken in addition to his dry food. He usually eats the chicken and leaves the dry.
We are not sure if he is just being picky or if it's the heat. He has had a tendency in the past to be a picky eater.
Any advice anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. So sorry for the length of this but I wanted to give you some history so you could give me proper advice. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

My question is this. "Do we HAVE to add water to it or can we just sprinkle it on his food?"
Of course I worry about him choking on it (as it says on the packaging) but perhaps dogs react differently to it than humans.
Your prompt response would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
And Harley would appreciate it as well.
