In a distracted moment I left my two bottles of armour thyroid on my bathroom counter, when I returned my 6 month old GS puppy had got them off the counter and chewed up the bottles and most the medication was gone, (2 grain and 1/2 grain 60 day supply) I rushed her to the vets where they gave her peroxide to make her vomit, which she did and then used charcole to absorb any left over medication, she was doing well, acting her normal self, she still is very active and her happy self but last night I found her neck swollen, the area where her thyroid is , I called my vet and they said as long as shes breathing fine, eatting fine, to just watch her and bring her in early next week, the goiter is quite big, larger then a golf ball, smaller then a tennis ball...it's hard. My question is will this hurt her own thyroid gland? will the goiter go down in size on its own once medication is out of her system? and how can we treat this? my vet was not convinced the puppy had even ate the meds and when I told them about the lump now they said it could be a growth, she didnt have it before she ate these thyroid meds, Armour thyroid is t3 t4 medication is this also a problem for her? is she gona be alright? anyone can u help me I love my dog so much I need advice from someone who knows about thyroid thank you , lorri_NView Thread
