My cat and I are native to warmer southern states and moved in 2001 to the Midwest. For as long as I can remember, my cat has had a thicker coat in the warmer months and a thin coat during the cooler months. In fact, he gets down right bony during Fall/Winter. He eats, drinks, uses the liter box and is very active like a normal cat. I guess now that he's a senior, it worries me more than it did 5-6 years ago. He's on a grain-free diet and always has a full water fountain. Maybe I'm just overly paranoid due to his age because I know as soon as the snow melts and it reaches 60 degrees daily, he'll fluff up again like he does every year. Should I take him to the vet any way just to be certain he's ok?View Thread
Thyroid was clear. His kidneys are the problem. It's strange because he's been like this before but the vets said he's just starting to show early signs of kidney disease. They can't explain it, but we're all happy I took him in and got him diagnosed/treated before I lost him!
Moral of the story, if kitty sheds weight quickly - TAKE KITTY TO VET!View Thread
