First off..my cat was born with it..He is 5yrs old..he gets I.V daily or sometimes every other day 1 ML a day of Plasma Lyte...he gets Azodyl every day he also gets his Liqui Tonic 4X by PRN which I got off amazon.. which helped with his anemia..when he is feeling great he eats..when he doesn't feel well he won't eat that is when I get a popsicle stick and feed him gerber baby food..which he can't spit out..he also gets pedialyte which I bottle feed that with some cranberry juice so he doesn't get a urinary infection..and also Bimini products makes a kidney support vitamin he gets..he gets..mineral oil daily which I use a CVS little syringe to help him go to the bathroom..once you keep them regular..they pretty much feel happy..Here is the site for the bimini products..if they ask you how you found this product tell the Armani's owner recommended this..they are understanding people..http://www.biminipethealth.com/products/biminis-best-cat-kidney-health-supplementsView Thread
So far I am maintaining him.I just bought him the LIqui-tinic 4 x which addresses his anemia..he still gets his IV fluids daily and his azodyl and he gets another type of vitamin..and mineral oil..everything is flowing fine..he is eating a lot..But I know there will be a time later on when all of this won't help..I am prepared for this..why? Because I surely know all that I have done..and it was a lot..for a cat other people would have never done ..and said the heck with this..and put the cat down..I could never sleep with that..your cat had a great life..God Bless him for being 18 I doubt Armani will get to that age..but he did have whatever good life I could give him..including his car rides which he absolutely loved View Thread
Sorry to hear that..right now I am managing armani..he is not the most playful cat being sick and all.. but he is living and eating a lot now that I have incorporated the Liqui-tinic 4x to him and addressed his anemia..He also started to play some but mostly I think he is comfortable..for now..He will let me know when it is time..I just don't want to give up on him..I would feel so guilty knowing many times before I had brought him back from a bad spell..View Thread
Thanks for the information and the link..I was having a problem with him being anemic..so I bought the Liqui-tinic 4x which is taking care of that..I knew it was a problem when he wanted to lick the ground outside..He is also getting mineral oil which makes him go to the bathroom much better..he seems to be a happier cat..and eating a lot..there have been some information that with kidney failure comes high blood pressure..I read this in a document..I know at one point he will be at his worst..right now he is just stabilized ..View Thread
It helps him with the hydration..he drinks it orally...and then I also I.V him I want to do this rebound that Lloverexcats talked about..she hasn't replied back to me maybe she is not on anymore...View Thread
Science Diet..KD..you need a prescription from your vet if you are to get it from petsmart also..but I also feed my cat gerber baby food..he gets ..Vit C liquids..and the ham..or turkey or chicken in the gerber food...I use a small spatula to feed him..he does great on it..has lots of Vitamins..View Thread
My cat is in renal failure..and with that he really doesn't eat much but he went from 5 pounds to 9 lbs..by me hand feeding him KD diet..and gerber baby food..on a stick..he has no choice he can't spit it out it's to mushy ..and he gets boost vanilla drink in a baby bottle..I also switch to cranberry juice with pedialyte in it and twice a week he gets prune juice..since his body takes all his fluids..it is harder for cats with kidney failure to have a good bowel movement..and YES they urinate a ton...but replenish their bodies and they seem to bounce bk...believe me my cat who is 3 is beyond his 9 lives..he went from being on saline to normisol..which he responds better and get this..there is no way they could neuter him also..his one testicle is ascended and if they spay him like a female he won't make it..no biggie..he has no clue what its all about..he is doing fine..and will let me know when it is his time...hope this helped..View Thread
My cat was born with kidney disease..when it is his time to go he will let me know..if I can afford to keep up my routine he will live..I do not like making a decision to put anything to sleep since he cannot tell me or speak...he will have other ways to let me know he cannot go on...people have money to spend on fashion labels..they have a pet that pet comes first...otherwise they should not own a pet..you take the good with the bad..You can get Azodyl for $25.00 and well I.V bags of Normisol only go for $8.00 a bag or $100.00 for a case don't let anyone rip you off it is inexpensive to keep up treatment..If you cat is not eating ...give him or her some boost with protein in a bottle..take a small spatula and feed them baby food beef or turkey..I give my cat prune juice to help when he needs extra fiber to evacuate..he gets..cranberry juice and pedialyte in a bottle..he had gained 4 lbs already..so there are other holistic ways to help with the cats disease and nutrition..FIRST and FOREMOST is hydration..you can I.V your cat at home..it is so easy..if the cat is hard to handle..put the cat in the bathroom sink with the I.V bag over the door...because the sink restricts him from moving..it is easier to I.V at least 1 ML of either saline or normisol..If any of this helps.. then great..View Thread
I know this is a 2yr old thread but I have a young 3 yr old cat with kidney disease..I.V is done every day with normisol.. he gets cranberry juice and pedialyte in a bottle for more hydration..he gets every 4 hrs..boost protein shake in a bottle..and he gets.. KD food along with beef baby food puree.. he also gets prune juice to help with his bowel movements..He is also on azodyl ...so whoever says there is nothing you can do..there is plenty you can do..as long as he keeps urinating fine and having normal bowel movements..the hydration is the key..View Thread
