My dog has done this probably 5-7 times in the past 3 years. She "recovers" without a trip to the vet, but I do NOT like it! I haven't been able to figure out what causes it, either, which I don't like either. The noises she makes gives me the impression its something in her throat, but I've gotten her to drink water, eat treats, etc and this doesn't seem to help. She would "prefer" to eat ANYTHING else when this happens. She's tried to eat toilet paper, bobby pins, plastic, rubber, ANYTHING (except for food.) My dog eats Purina Beneful Health Weight. She had an issue with pancreatitus as a pup, but due to a carefully monitored diet, no issues have come up since, so I always wondered if this was connected. It always seems to happen at night and there is no way I can safely leave her out and about in the house (see above about eating anything) and I end up having to shut her in a bathroom with EVERYTHING removed from it, which makes me feel like the worst dog mom ever, but it's the safest place I can put her. Has anyone else had any more luck with the cause of this or how to stop it? View Thread
