My 8 year old Pekingese lets out a frightening howling scream from time to time when he's asleep. When it happens, and it's happened about 5 time since I've had him, he pees on himself and last night he defecated. Each time it happens I gently wake him up and he appears disoriented. After last night's episode, I offered him one of his favorite treats after I cleaned and comforted him but he took the treat very gingerly.
As others have written, the howling scream doesn't sound normal and it's very eerie. My Pekingese is otherwise healthy and I would love to know what brings on these episodes. He gets plenty of love and attention and we do not play aggressively. He's been on a grain free diet most of his life.
Just glad to know this isn't something that's happening only to my dog...View Thread
