Not sure if I am in the right spot, I am not trying to conceive but yet trying to drop the excessive amount of weight I gained while pregnant. I am looking for more of diet plans that have worked and how mom's with PCOS have lost weight after giving birth, is there any one here that can help?!? I also can share my experience with getting pregnant and giving birth with PCOS if anyone is interested! Thanks!View Thread
Wondering what others do to stop the bleeding...Today, have felt dizzy, fatigue, and nauseated.
Has anyone had a Hysterectomy and if so how has the outcome been? At this stage in my life I am 36 not wanting children, but not wanting to bleed everyday for the rest of my life.
Any suggestions are grateful!

It's a Chlorogenic Acid supplement derived from the coffee bean (don't worry - it's caffeine free), and since I started taking it my hair has completely stopped falling out, and my periods have RETURNED. As an added bonus - I've lost about 20 lbs in the last 2 months.
I really feel that this is a great product, and it has helped me tremendously.

I was a soccer player up until last year (then work interferred) and was always active. I was never skinny but always bordelining on over weight, which my doctor thought was weird because I ran miles every day at soccer, have been a vegetarian since I was 7, and ate healthy. Then last year I gained 20 pounds. After I started noticing I was getting embarrasing excess hair on the face and back, missed periods, and acne, I complained to my doctor at my physical who suggested that I might have PCOS and sent me to a specialist at MassGeneral in Boston. After blood tests and a ultrasound, it was confirmed that I have PCOS and hypoglacimia, and my insulin levels came back weird so they are retesting that. She put me on spironalactone, acne medicine, and progesterone. She wanted to put me on birth control, but because of a blood clotting factor that I have she said its not worth the risk, even though I am willing to take it.
I have been going to the gym and eating more fruits, veggies, and whole grains. I cant seem to lose weight though. The weight and the hair is what I hate most about having PCOS. Anyone have any tips on helping me lose weight and get rid of hair?View Thread
I have started taking Metformin again... no issues, I am currently unemployed. I have also added a regimine of other vitamins and hormones. Progesterone and Prometrium, and Flaxseed Oil as well as Magnesium. The Hormones, they are 100mg each ten days a month, then the Flaxseed Oil is 1200mgs a day, then the Magnesium is 1000mg a day. I have also had to take a mega dose of Vitamin D... that was a 10 day dose.
The vitamins were added by me, with the approval of my Drs. I researched the benefits of those vitamins and found that they can help improve my PCOS to help me get back on the track of healthy! The Magnesium will help me to break down the foods my PCOS (resistence to insulin) fails to do. The Flaxseed Oil will improve my HIGH Cholesterol (280 started in 2000, at 200 last year and we'll soon see what the new level is since I have been taking flaxseed oil the last 6/8 months). The Vitamin D Mega Dose was a prescription since my Vit. D level was 8 out of a very good 32. Yeah... I don't wanna die from anything and much less with help from a lack of Vit D.
So, now I see on WebMD that Flaxseed Oil is not good for PCOS patients to take... Why not? My "Specialists" haven't said not to, or have a sense of urgency about it. Can you tell me why PCOS patients shouldn't take Flaxseed Oil?View Thread
After my diagnoses, my doctor advised my blood sugar wasn't high enough to be put on Metformin so he has only been doing a birth control regimin. For me, I feel like my regimin is exactly what triggered the weight gain. Sure enough, I haven't lost any weight yet and am still gaining. I've modified my diet (though I will admit I'm not as strict as I should be), but am still really struggling. I am now up to almost 180 pounds.
So does anyone have any advice on what has actually worked for them in losing weight without the assistance of Metformin?View Thread

I was on Metformin on and off 4 times and kept having the same severe symptoms, dizziness and major GI effects. I received an email that talked about this as a replacement for Metformin with the same results along with other benefits. Wondering if this maybe a solution for me? I can not take brith control or anything with hormones in it due to multiple PE's after using the Nuva Ring about three years ago...and Metformin is now not an option either.View Thread
I am 22 and I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19. I have been on birth control since I was 16 years old (and it masked my symptoms until I was 19 and tired of taking meds). Now, I am suffering from random things and I am determined to find the underlying cause of my problems. I am a senior in college, premed, and I am tired of doctors not looking at the overall picture when treating me.
I have:
Depression/anxiety
IBS
Jaw surgery because my jaw was growing to the side
Sleep apnea
Septal/adenoid surgery for sleep apnea
Nightmares every single night
Exhausted all the time - I could sleep forever if I had the time
Decreased concentration
Joint pain, always cracking and stuff!

Lower back pain
Knee pain
weight gain
Random stomach pain after eating sometimes.
I probably forgot something.
What else do you all have besides PCOS and have any treatments helped??View Thread
