My name is Michelle. I'm a mostly recovered bulimic. I was bulimic for 10 years and was ednos for sometime before that. I have not regularly engaged in eating disorder related behaviors for about 3 years now. I have been medically stable since then. However, I definitely do not eat regularly or normally... Almost as soon as I stabilized medically I found out I have PCOS. Since I have PCOS I am supposed to have a very limited diet in order to control my weight. I cant even eat normal for a normal person let alone for someone with dietary restrictions. Does anyone have an advice or experience in a similar situation? I have been trying and trying for the past 3 years to master this and I just cant seem to do it. I want to be at a healthy weight and to eat normally. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Take care God bless,
MichelleView Thread
Anyone experience this long of spotting?View Thread
We have been ttc for almost two years. I am not overweight, but still have severe PCOS. I have only EVER had 7 menstrual cycles, usually once every 1 or 2 years. Never more than one period per year.
Anyway, last spring we tried 4 rounds of Clomid up to 150 mg and no mature follicles. Had to use Provera each cycle. After those failed attempts, I was put on Metformin (long term) and a birth control pill (five months) to regulate my period.
My body responds well the first month coming off the pill. The only times I have ever ovulated were the month after stopping the pill. The problem is after that first month, I stop ovulating and dont get any more periods. I am not one of those people who has to "wait to get regular" after coming off the pill....that is the only time my body works.
Last month I came off the pill and continued Metformin. I ovulated for the first time in 17 months, but did not get pregnant. I didnt ovulate until day 24, could that make a difference? We have sex every other day and my husband has good semen, so that is not the problem. I felt like this month was my only shot, but I got my period, so that is a miracle. No waiting around with Provera.
My doc started me back down at 50mg of Clomid this cycle, because she is so confident in the Metformin. My question is, now that I have been on Metformin for 6 months, could the Clomid work this time? Or, could Metformin make my cycles continue when I usually only get one once every 1-2 years? Anyone with no periods and failed attempts with Clomid have success with Metformin or Met/Clomid? Thanks so much!!!
P.S. I am not overweight, but I cut way down on sugar and eat mostly fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and plenty of Fiber and Protein.View Thread

Another question I have is about weight. The metformin has helped me stop gaining weight but it seems like no matter how healthily or how little I eat I can not seem to lose weight. I asked my doctor about byetta and she flat out refused to prescribe it because its off label. What is the next step? Is there anything that will help me lose weight? I am 5'6" amd weigh around 250 pounds, I really need to lose this weight but nothing seems to help and its making me miserable.View Thread

is there any help for this, that doesnt cost an arm and a leg i dont have insurance and im scared to death does anyone have any advice?View Thread
We have had all sorts of testing. I have been deemed normal besides having polycystic ovaries, but apparently I do not have PCOS. My labs came back normal besides a slighty over normal testosteron level and I have had normal periods my entire life. I also ovulate normally according to my progesteron test. My husband was perfect! So we are unexplained...which is SO irritating!
We are considering trying Follistism with a trigger shot and natural intercourse. A friend of mine did this and had success with it after 3 cycles and is now pregnant with twins.
I think the IVF may have been too invasive on my body and stressed it out too much. Im hoping this new method will be less stressfull on my body and mind and we will be able to relax a bit more.
Anyone had any expierence with this?View Thread
Knowledge is power and I guess it's time that I educate myself about PCOS and successful ways to resolve the hormone imbalances it can cause.

about 7yrs ago i was diagnosed with PCOS.
I got pregnant at age 35, started off with doing infertility shots first, then we were on the verge of doing invetro, which we couldnt afford to do. so we stopped everything....two months later, wham....i was pregnant. i was so excited! and it was only baby!
Right now, and back then, I also had high prolactin levels(the hormone which prodices breast milk) i still have high levels, and was supposed to be put on meds for it, but the dr never prescribed them for me
2yrs ago, an mri was done, and a small nodule was found on my pituatary glands. i just saw an endocrinoligist in may of this yr, who didnt not order another mri to be done, instead just told me to do bloodwork to check my levels, which were high. I am wondering, is there a possibility the nodule got bigger, and could be causing me severe headahces one-two times a week?
The pain is only in my neck, and in the lower part of my head and nowhere else. any help would be greatly appreciatedView Thread
I have PCOS and hypothyroidism and am on 25 mcg Synthroid and 1500 mg Metformin. After a routine physical, my labs came back slightly abnormal with low sodium, low chloride, and low BUN-to-creatinine ratio. Note: due to an issue with my pharmacy/insurance I had not taken the metformin for 1 1/2 weeks prior to when the labs were done.
Additionally I've had some bladder changes, dizziness, and abdominal pain, swelling and pain above my left hip/iliac crest area, for several months. My internist wasn't alarmed by the levels or symptoms and said I should have the labs redone in 3 months.
Would it be reasonable to push her to do more testing - if there is any testing to be done?View Thread
My daughter is 15 and has never had a period. Her doctor had an ultrasound done and said at the time she was ovulating but that was 5 months ago and sitll nothing..
