My name is Vicky, I was diagnosed with PCOS at 23, but have had symptoms sense hitting puberty. I was put on Metformin from the begining, because I also had Insulin Resistance. I was told I would be diabetic by the time I was 30. I'm 33 now and my IR is well controlled, in the "normal" ranges.
My husband and I have been married for 10 years and have never used protection. We have activly TTC for about 5 years of that, and did rough timing/hope and pray for the rest. I was on Clomid for all of 2010 and it wasnt till Dec that we determined I really wasn't ovulating.
Family details- EVERY SINGLE female on my dad's side in the last 2 generations have been diagnosed with PCOS. 3 aunts, one cousin, my sister and I. On my mom's side 3 of my female cousins have it and they suspect both my grandmothers had it. All together of the cousins and my sister there are a total of 10 bio children, and all but 3 were concived with help of Clomid, IUI or IVF. (there are 4 adopted in addition, plus any I add to the mix)
Symptoms I have:
Thinning scalp hair
Excess hair on face, chest, belly, back, arms.
tan, velvety skin on inner thighs and under arms
depression (managed by talk therapy)
High blood pressure (managed by Labetalol)
Insulin Resistance (managed with Metformin 2000mg)
Overweight and trouble losing it (5'8" and 260lb)
cysts on ovaries.
In Jan I switched from seeing a GYN (No RE in my area) to a Endocrenoligist to treat the PCOS with no fertility emphasis. Instead we have moved on to adoption.
