Good Afternoon ladies!! I have lurked on here some from time to time but not really sure which board I belong on. I was thinking maybe some of you ladies have been where I am and can give me some insight.
Have any of you done injectables with timed intercourse or IUI and what did your cycle consist of? What were the side affects of the injetables (compared to clomid or femera if you did them)? Are there any questions I should be asking or concerns I should have at this point?
Here is my history and background up through my appt with my RE today.
Current History: DH and I have been TTC#3 for 17 months. We did 5 rounds of clomid (50, 100, 150, 150 and 200mg), took 2 months off while switching to an RE. She said I have PCOS and started me on metformin (1500mg) for the first month off and then did BCP for the second since I had a cyst. We did 5mg Femera with a trigger shot and progesterone. I ended up with low beta's and a chemical pregnancy. We went right into another cycle at 5mg Femera. Due to Christmas we couldn't do the trigger shot but I had a pos. OPK on CD20. We still did the progesterone. Again low beta's and another chemical preg.
I just had a consult with my RE and she is a little concerned. In all, I am 1 for 5 with keeping a pregnancy when using fertility meds (either clomid or femera) (I had 2 m/c on clomid before conceiving our first child). She has me taking the month off (on BCP so we don't have to wait for AF to show and then take provera to get her). She is doing a chromosonal test on my and my DH just to make sure it isn't one of us carrying bad DNA and I am doing a dye/x-ray test to see if there is scaring due to 2 c-sections that may be keeping the embryo from implanting and staying. As long as all comes back good there, she wants me to start baby asprin for the medicated cycle and is looking to do injectables. She thinks injectables will give us better eggs and more control during the cycle in hopes of it sticking.View Thread
Have you talked to your doctor about clomid or femera to help with ovulation? If you don't O on your own, you won't have regular cycles. Clomid or femera can help with that. Metformin can level some hormones and such out but you may still need more.
I did clomid in 2008 to conceive our DS and concieved DD with no issues while breast feeding. We have been TTC a third for over a year now. About 2 1/2 months months ago, I started seeing an RE. She tested me and said I had PCOS and needed metformin. I started with one 500mg pill with breakfast for a week then added one at dinner for the second week. I then added a second pill at breakfast to make 1500mg a day of metformin. It took a month to really get used to the affects but I kept looking to the big picture, a baby!! I went in after a month and they found a cyst so I had to take birth control for a month to reduce it. That worked and we are now doing 5mg femora to bring on ovulation. I hope to know soon if it is working. I wish you luck and hope things work out for you!!View Thread
I have always had PCOS symptoms but when tested back in 2008 when we were having trouble conceiving, my blood work was in normal ranges. I used clomid to help regulate my cycles and help me ovulate and I have a beautiful DS. We then got preggers again while I was breastfeeding with no medical help and have a beautiful DD. We began trying october 2011 for a third and again had difficulties. This time around clomid didn't work (we did 5 cycles). I just went to an RE and we established that with my age increasing (only 31 but was 28 when conceived DS) PCOS may be the culprit. She tested me and it was confirmed. I am now on metformin (which could regulate my cycle on it's own and helps to reduce chances of miscarriage through first trimester). We will start Femera next month. I know that starting a family may be more difficult, but it is possible!! Just be positive and work closely with your OB/GYN when the time comes. Or if you want more options and more experience in the area of conceiving with PCOS, look into an RE (reproductive endocronologist). Good luck to you!!View Thread
