When I was pregnant with my daughter, all the mommies-to-be used to post weekly updates (responding to whoever posted the first one, so it was one thread). We let each other know how we were doing, how our babies were and how we were handling pregnancy. I don't see any here anymore. I know the activity on this Board has declined significantly since they changed the format, but I'm hoping to get this started again. It was a nice way to get to know and support one another. A bunch of us became very close friends by providing that constant support. I hope you'll join me!
Here goes:
16 weeks!
PROS: Feeling SO much better. The first tri was really challenging for me. I was never sick with my daughter and this time I felt like I had the flu for 3 months -- blech! Everyone keeps telling me this must mean we're having a boy, but I'm not convinced. I think it could be a little girl with a BIG attitude! Told my DSSs (10 and 11) a few weeks ago and they're excited. Of course they want a baby brother.
CONS: Feel like I'm gaining more weight this time and more quickly, so I've got keep that in check. Hoping once the weather gets warmer and I'm outside more walking, that will help. In the meantime, just trying to eat healthfully and exercise when I can. [PRO:> Started prenatal yoga again, and chasing around my toddler is keeping me on my toes, that's for sure!
OTHER: DH and I seem to be at odds more this pregnancy. In truth, we have a lot going on, always running around with my DSSs and of course our 13-month-old daughter requires a lot of attention. I know he's stressed about having his fourth kid (financially), but we do just fine financially and will manage. He is such a help sometimes, but much of the time I have to do EVERYTHING and it drives me crazy! Next appointment is on 3/30. Looking forward to it!
Best to all --

I'm so sorry to hear your news! If they're testing your hormones to see if they go up or down, are they saying there is a chance they might be wrong?
I had two miscarriages before I had my daughter last year, so I have been there. It can be so, so difficult. Big hugs to you -- hang in there.

I'm so sorry to hear your news. I've been there and know how difficult it can be. Take some time for yourself, and as you said, take it day by day...
Best wishes to you!

I'm baaaaaaack! I've lurked a bit here and there, checking in on the Board, but not posted for some time, so I doubt there is anyone here who remembers me (except you, Deb and Jeannie). I had my little girl, Carys, in February of 2010.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear, but a BFP, veryveryverylate last year! I am due on 8/30/11. Given my history of losses, I wanted to wait until we got through the first tri and NT scan before going "public" (though I'm still not public on FB -- a few close friends and DH's family have yet to be told).
Please add me to the list!
)Best of luck to you with your second! I have been meaning to send you a quick note on FB -- I'm a teeny bit freaked out about having two babies under 2 at age 41. Yikes!
Best to all -- look forward to getting to know everyone.

I read through your story and wish I'd managed to write Carys' birth story -- I have notes but still haven't ever put it on paper. Ah, well. One day.

You can always call him and ask why he thinks you "need" to go into labor this week. Was your blood pressure OK? A friend of mine was induced at about the same time as you b/c of her swelling, and it all went just fine. I think it's amazing that you're already dilated some -- that's a good, positive thing. Your body is preparing. It knows what to do. We used to end my prenatal yoga classes by chanting "I trust in the wisdom of my body. I trust in the wisdom of my baby. I trust in the wisdom of my divine light." Oddly enough, it was calming.
My doc made it clear she wouldn't let me go more than one week past my due date, and had my induction scheduled for months in advance so as to have a hospital bed reserved -- I did not want to be induced, though. I took C to 40 weeks and 4 days, then she decided to make her apearance on the day she was scheduled to be induced.
Try not to worry about the size of the baby. They can be so off on their estimates and worry women unnecessarily. I met a women this past weekend who (years ago) gave birth to an 11 lb, 3 oz baby. Vaginally. I told her I wanted her autograph.
Hang in there, lady!

Sending you {{{easy labor}}} vibes. I know it's really uncomfortable right now, but she'll be here soon and you'll forget all about it then.
The waiting stinks, though, doesn't it? And the swelling. And the discomfort. And t-r-y-i-n-g to haul your butt up to pee every 5 minutes! heeheehee
Congrats on getting all the papers graded -- that's a huge accomplishment you can check off your list!
I'll be checking both here and FB for news...

Have you figured out the little Dude's favorite flavor? I miss feeling those movements!

Just be sure to wake them up before you go-go to smother them with kisses.

(Sorry -- couldn't resist!)
And for the record -- I would call as much as you want to. Especially if it'll make you feel better and give you peace of mind for next time. 'Cause you will want there to be a next time!!!
HAPPY, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
